Ep 73: Two Journals for Cozy Reflection Time

This journal might actually may have found its way into my 2022 planner stack. It has plenty of space to write every day with fairly open prompts, and is luxuriously produced with lovely paper that is a pleasure to write on. It also has lots of ‘magazine style’ seasonal content.

It came packed with a few goodies (including a magnetic clip-style bookmark!) and is lovingly produced in the USA by a small company that is led by a woman (Julie). I plan on keeping mine by my bed as a much-preferred scrolling alternative (though I’ve been better about that lately, it’s always good to have OTHER things to do, especially when anxious!).

Oprah’s The Life You Want Planner

I ordered this on a whim because — well, OPRAH! I have to say I was definitely not disappointed in either the quality or contents of this affordable ($24.95 for a year’s worth!) journal. Yes, I consider this more of a ‘journal’ than a planner – it’s filled with themes and thoughtful prompts and I think it leans significantly in that direction.

It is a hardback linen-covered book that lays flat pretty well. The whole book is printed in color and is filled in quotes (many by Oprah 🙂 ) and photos, many of nature. Each month has its own theme, and every week there are multiple prompts to promote reflection. There’s some blank space too for brainstorming.

The pages are matte and the paper is a touch less luxurious than the JMB above, but still completely serviceable. The pages are not slick and smudge-prone, nor are they flimsy. Bleed-through did not happen with my gel pens (though I gravitate towards finer tips).

The bad news is that this planner is sold out and you have to reserve a copy that will arrive after the new year (it’s undated, so that isn’t the end of the world). You can reserve here.
