Weekend

It was a 2 bath day

May 22, 2022
result of her haircut! It really looks nice!

2 long outdoor events on a 90+ degree day?

Yes. Between the two, there was face paint, splatter paint, açaí bowls, a water slide, a foam feature (swim around in a bath of foam?), a saltwater pool, and delicious BBQ that took me back to my NC days.

2 baths. 3 hyped up but tired out kids. 1 parent overseeing it (though Josh got home at 7ish so he did thankfully help with bedtime).

And now I have at least one kid with a runny nose so we will have to break out the COVID tests. It would be really sad if Josh and I had to miss our trip next week BUT as I mentioned – I have so many good things planned this summer that when inevitably one gets messed up, there will still be more up ahead.

I guess overscheduling is my new COVID strategy.

TODAY

Run. It’s already 80 so there will be no beating the heat. I am going to do longish and sloooooooow.

Make final list of Stuff I Need For Camp. And maybe place some Target orders + watch the “how to pack” video that camp sent me.

Plan out week & send copy to Josh & our nanny. And either make lunch for tomorrow or commission A to do it.

Walgreens to pick up RX + more CV tests (US readers, did you order your additional 8 free ones?)

Gmail cleanout.

Basically a much more low key day than yesterday. And on that note our groceries are here. Back tomorrow with a BLP Q&A!

Sounds like a busy but fun day! Thanks for posting the Covid test link. I kept forgetting to do it!

The kids all look like they had a great time, but I especially LOVE that picture of G!

We had a busy Saturday hanging out in the woods and riding bikes, and then swim lessons and a play date today and T has declared himself “completely exhausted” so I’m breaking all rules and letting him eat a pb&j in front of Netflix. We have a teacher workday tomorrow so taking him + a pal to the zoo, in hopes that two of them will manage the hills better than 1 (it worked before on an unexpectedly intense hike).

The PB&J for kiddo means I could make the vegan lasagne a bit spicier than normal.

The face/body paint is so cute! I am in SUCH camp packing denial…. I don’t know if I am impressed or horrified that your camp sent a VIDEO on how to pack ;).

I feel like you accomplish so much while you are solo parenting and your husband is working or on call. I’m at home on my own often with kids of similar ages and would appreciate any tips.

I hope the covid test was negative. Our 1.5yo tested positive on Saturday – 12 days after I tested positive. We had tested the kids and my husband every 2-3 days and were hoping maybe they miraculously wouldn’t get it. Out of everyone, I was hoping the toddler would stay healthy because he’s the HARDEST by a landslide to have home. Le sigh. I’m finally starting to feel better but it’s been a long haul to get back to full health. Stupid covid!!

But it sounds like you had a great day w/ the kids! Being out and about/having things to do makes weekends so much more enjoyable for me! That’s what is hardest about covid… being cooped up is so hard but at least it’s nice out so we can take the toddler on multiple looooonnnnnggggg walks. Luckily he loves the stroller.
