1- OMG! This week! I made it and am almost totally caught up on sleep + life. It was a journey, though. Today was lovely, I held a little ‘thank you’ lunch for my GME team this past few years and it was fun (and delicious – Thai food is the best). AND my inboxes are mostly clear. So life is good!
2- My final Hobonichi cover arrived!!!! I hemmed and hawed over this cover because it was not cheap, but I am SO GLAD I went for it. It is so beautiful in person. It is currently out of stock but there is a restock coming per the site.
3- We have an entirely chill weekend with basically nothing planned, which is perfect after last weekend’s extravaganza. I am looking forward to some relaxation. Josh is off again which feels somewhat miraculous but apparently he took extra call earlier in the year and this lovely stretch is evening it out.
4- I went to book club last night and we discussed The Paper Palace, which I ended up enjoying — but mildly traumatic (lots of trauma, adultery, and other disturbing themes). The complexity DID make it great fodder for discussion. Also, we spent a solid 20 minutes trying to cast a theoretical movie version of the book and landed on Charlize Theron for the main female character, Blythe Danner as her mother, and various Game of Thrones actors for the two male leads. (Sorry, couldn’t keep those straight because I’ve never seen that show despite the fact that Josh has not missed a single episode! Oh well).
After a robust period, my reading life has been meh lately BUT I am enjoying Remarkably Bright Creatures and hope to curl up with that this weekend. Maybe during a moody thunderstorm.
5- Rushmore Beekeepers, a band near and dear to this site, released a new album today! Many of you have heard them before because they are the musicians behind the relaxing intro/outro of Best Laid Plans! And, the multitalented Amanda (1/2 of the duo) helped me redesign + migrate this site ~3 yrs ago! You can find it here and stream it on any of the popular services.

Thanks so much for the Rushmore Beekeepers shoutout, Sarah. Have a great chill weekend. 🙂
isn’t farewell bittersweet? I have having many and they made me already missing the Philippines and the people here.
Ohh, that cover is beautiful. I love it! I always think splurging on things you use daily is worth it. So glad you were able to get the one you wanted! And that it finally came! Hooray! I hope you have a great weekend.
