Weekend

OMG this weekend

September 11, 2022

I cannot believe how much we did this weekend.

Honestly, it was too much. I am very behind on life maintenance and tired as all get-out. BUT we just happened to have a lot of things sort of fall on this one weekend and I am not sure what I would have left out!

Early this AM:

I raced a 5K at Hollywood Beach this morning! It was about a 30 minute drive which meant waking up at 5 am when we flew home from Colorado yesterday. I’m not sure if I ever truly switched time zones but I AM sure that it was an unwelcome phone alarm. BUT I had trained and the weather looked decent (albeit hot) so . . . I went.

gorgeous scenery waiting for the event to start!

I did . . . okay! I was hoping to run more like 8:30 pace, but . . . with 82F / 85% humidity and much of the race in direct sunlight, I really felt like the weather was a limiting factor. I did place 4th in my age group so I guess everyone else was suffering too! (The screenshot below says 3rd which I was excited about but then I think they fixed it to prioritize chip over gun time and I was downgraded. Also I guess I am a “Masters” runner now, yay?)

Afterwards Josh + the kids met me up for breakfast at Another Broken Egg Cafe where I inhaled pumpkin waffles that were even better because I had just raced.

I am already thinking about my next race and running ‘master plan’. More on that in a future post.

Then:

I could not turn down this birthday party invite because it is a friend and also, who am I to deny G her opportunity to be this happy?!?!

a triumphant return to Chuck E Cheese . . . omg

Annabel was there too and didn’t mind it either. (C was at his own friend’s bday party on the opposite side of town!)

AND THEN . . .

We went to Disney on Ice! Josh and I bought the tickets months ago when our kids were Encanto obsessed and the show was Frozen/Encanto. I have to say: I was impressed!!! Like, I highly recommend this. The kids all loved it, the skaters were great, and it wasn’t boring in the least.

AND somehow we managed to get out without buying any plastic crap, which is a victory in and of itself.

happy

Anyway, that was really a lot and the house is a full on mess BUT we will make it through and mayyyybe someday this week I will be able to take a breath and catch up on my piles. I WOULD NOT (and could not) have a weekend like this every week. But once in a while I will say . . . worth it.

Wowza! You make my busy days on vacation look tame! 😜

That is A LOT! Especially after coming back from a super quick trip. But sometimes weekends get over planned but ‘choosing the bigger life’ is worth it in the long run. I have been really busy this summer and sometimes it has felt like too much, but then I remember how little I did for 1.5 years and I tell myself it’s worth it to be a little overtired once in awhile. I hope you can catch up on rest this week. Congrats on the age group placement! Especially in those temps!!! Oof!

We did a lot this summer, but it was totally all by design, I was *done* with simple, at home living and it was fun to go on several trips. I’m glad others seem to be making up for lost time, too!

WOW!!!! Good for you! Did G go to Disney on ice? I have been wanting to take my 7 year old but assumed the 4 year old would not be up for it.

Everything you did sounds worth it. Next week cybe chiller 😀

In the summer I really don’t enjoy running but as fall is coming back I think I will try to start adding it back. I get discouraged I never seem to get fast but I still enjoy it a bit. I’ve been doing lots of barre videos and feel like my abs are stronger than they have been in a while!!

G LOVED it. Rapt attention. She does turn 5 in Dec but I think it’s great for her age group!

What a full weekend, indeed. It’s nice to sometimes have times crammed with activity. I can ride the adrenaline (and then crash later on); sometimes a steady trickle of activity can feel more draining then back-to-back experiences. Plus it all sounds very fun!!!

That is a lot but also seems very enjoyable and that everyone got to have a good time , resting and and tasks can be done during the week.
    Congrats for coming 4th !
