5 on a Friday: Misc Edition

October 14, 2022

1- I am obsessed with this notebook right now.

Kokuyo Sooofa (yes, 3 Os) soft ring A5

I love the grid.

I love the smooth but relatively non smudgy paper with my Clena.

I love the soft rings as a left-hander!

I will resist the urge to buy 10 but I kind of want to.

2- I had a much better run today, re-attempting Wednesday’s (relative) catastrophe! Amazing what a little fuel + slightly (and only slightly) better weather can do.

My VO2 max graph – thank you Apple Watch! Did you know the watch can do this? I was Garmin loyal for soooo long and it’s probably a tiny bit more accurate, but I admit I am pretty much a convert to this one now.

3- “Life is what happens when you’re busy making other plans.” — John Lennon. A quote left as a comment from . . .my dad. Thx dad, your first comment in forever but I gotta say you nailed it.

4- Kids activities update! A is now in gymnastics 3x/week + theater weekly – no horse, no tennis. C is now in tennis 2x/week but is about to try out for his school’s soccer team (long shot for a 3rd grader I think) AND is signed up for our local rec soccer league. This sounds like too much soccer, so I will likely cancel the latter if he makes the school team (but again – probably long shot). He also does gymnastics on Saturday and is obsessed with doing super long handstands. G is still in dance + gymnastics – she complains every week about going to dance and then comes out beaming so I don’t know what to make of that!

People have asked about how this works and our nanny usually drives, and all of these are drop-off and are quite close to our house. If it’s Weds or Thurs and I’m not on call, I also help drive (sometimes both of us driving in different directions). Theater driving is split with our neighbor who lives 2 houses away which is good because it ends at 7:15 pm which feels sooooo late.

hoping he keeps this up b/c he’s pretty good and it gets a LOT of energy out the way he plays!

5- Headed into a Josh-CALL weekend, but I’m feeling pretty positive! G has a drop off play date (!!) which she has been talking about for days. I have a 10 mile (EARLY) long run which I am oddly looking forward to. And I’m thinking there will be pizza. All good things . . .

Drop-off playdates, hooray! T does judo on Tuesday (conveniently the day he doesn’t have a spot in aftercare) and swim at the weekend. He’s on the waitlist for beavers (first stage of scouts) but it’s a long list.

We’re heading into the school holidays here – kids were wrecked at pick up today so my son has just had a mellow afternoon doing lego and watching ninjago while I work next to him. My autumn teaching break isn’t for 2 more weeks, so kiddo is heading to an outdoor day camp (rock pool exploring, beach shelter building, sandcastles, sealife spotting) for a few days next week and then he and my husband are heading to the grannies in London for 5 days. I’ve got two days at home solo before I head back to work city. I’m trying to figure out a good plan – I’d like to get some organising done ahead of the zero waste fest my town holds but also may just need a rest.

Fuel and weather make so much difference! I have a hard workout tomorrow and I’m not looking forward to it because it’s going to be much hotter than last Saturday. 10 degrees is the difference between feeling like a rockstar and feeling like a puddle of goo on the side of the road.

I hope your 10 miler went well! And that Josh call weekend is going ok. We had a full day of fall fun yesterday but the toddler had to stay home – got dx’d with RSV on Friday but seems to be doing better now. So the 4.5yo and I went to his school’s fall festival and then a pumpkin event at the zoo which was AMAZING!!! It was library themed and the pumpkin carvings blew my mind.
