Workout Report + Super Fun Weekend

February 26, 2023

NC was so much fun!

It was short but SOOO worth it to spend time with old dear friends!!! I have no idea which photos they would want me to share here so I will just say it was amazing. We celebrated their 10th anniversary at Angus Barn (in the wine cellar). It was a big party, but in the end, Josh and I ended up hanging out with K and Dr S until 1 AM just talking. It was shocking and totally fun to be the ones that lasted the longest – ha!!

We then flew back (including a random upgrade to first class from credit card point-related status which was totally unexpected + fun — though it’s not even a 2 hour flight. I SAVORED the legroom and larger snack variety, hahahah).

ANNNNNND we got home from MIA and drove straight to a bday party that lasted from ~1p – 6p!!! Honestly, we basically partied all weekend and it was great. Today is more low key and for once I feel like I have a chance to prep for the week AND get in some downtime.

“I’m a good witch” (only slightly scary . . .)

Workout Report

This is now being planned out by my running coach – I will not post the plans but here’s what actually happened! I didn’t resume strength training yet (this was a post-half-marathon recovery week) but I have it in the plan next week!

M: 3 mi @ 11:00/mi (day after the half, shakeout run). 72F / 83% humidity

T: 5 mi @ 10:13/mi average. 76F / 71% humidity

W: REST

R: 6.25 mi @ 10:09/mi (6 mi + 2 x 20 sec strides). 70F / 89% humidity

F: 10.75 mi @ 10:10/mi ave in NC in Umstead Park (hilly trails). 62F / 73% humidity. Josh ran with me!! I think mostly to prevent me from getting lost in the woods . . .

S: REST

S: 3 mi @ 9:58/mi. 65F / 90%.

Total mileage: 28 // Strength: 0!

I bet the cooler run in NC felt so good!!

You guys had a BUSY but fun weekend! I’m envious of the fact that kids can wear swimsuits at a party in feb. Paul’s bday is this week but we will wait and have his friend party in April or May so we can have an outdoor park party with his classmates. It won’t be reliably warmish until then!! We have soooo much snow, it’s hard to imagine it melting by April so May is more than likely when we will have it!

It did feel great BUT they were having a mini heatwave (high was 80s!) so perhaps not as good as NC in Feb usually is 🙂 That said YES I would be sooooo happy to be able to run on trails like that regularly. Nothing like that near me here. (And obviously . . a lot hotter.)

Delaying party until good weather = excellent move. I would totally do that except somehow my kids are all born in the ‘good weather’ season here! (Dec / Feb / early Apr).

Umstead Park is SUPER hilly! There is one hill people call Cemetery Hill because it’s so steep. I did a half there in May 2019 and it was a doozy. Your weekend sounds awesome. Despite living here for >10 years we haven’t eaten at the Angus Barn yet (maybe because we don’t eat red meat it’s not high priority?) .

Ha! That makes me feel better! I did kind of die at the end. But I still prefer hills to heat from an enjoyment perspective!
