Today is a New Day

March 22, 2023

I was lying in bed with Annabel last night and she noted I had been in a MOOD yesterday. (She was correct.)

I noted that tomorrow would be a fresh start and she reminded me that actually you can make a fresh start at any moment. Then we started joking about how silly it would be to wait for a new year, decade, millennium to start over.

It was a nice moment. And also, today IS a fresh start.

Things I will try to do today:

♥️ Take my time with things

♥️ Listen well

♥️ Avoid interrupting myself needlessly

♥️ Aim to take intentional restorative breaks

♥️ Hydrate!

Workout-wise, today is a total rest day which is welcome. Maybe I will take on some gentle yoga . . .

In entirely unrelated news, I ordered this dress. Love the idea of wearing more dresses casually in the hot spring + summer months. The length is tricky but they do have petite sizing so crossing fingers.

many petite sizes now gone so I hope it fits: Button-Front Tiered Midi Dress

Remember my allowance plan? I spent Feb/Mar stocking up on running shoes and the like, but I think I will devote April/May to getting a few pieces for spring. I’m pretty into what Madewell is currently offering plus I will probably get 3 more tees from Marine Layer — their T-shirts are such high quality and they LAST. I also want white or cream colored jeans. And cute sneakers.

(I guess this may take up April – June allowance. Obviously Inflation has hit the stores but I cannot bring myself to raise the allowance bar right now! Maybe 2024.)

Despite my #mood, I did have a bright moment yesterday — I gave a virtual seminar to a group of lawyers and it went (I think) really well!

I called the talk “Best of Best Laid Plans Academy” and gave a very condensed version of the concepts/ideas laid out in BLPA. I would love to do more of this!

Please tell me more about Marine Layer tees. I’ve thought about them before, but I keep buying cheap tees that I just replace every year bc the price tag is intimidating!

On an unrelated note, your website is being eaten alive by ads. I don’t know if you only look at it from the back end, but recently, the ads have multiplied and are even encroaching on the text so it’s increasinly difficult to read your posts. Also hard to read on a phone.

Ugh I know! I need to get rid of them. I don’t know why it suddenly changed like that. It’s on my list to work on.

    A is quite wise.

That’s lovely from A. That dress will be a total summer workhorse. I think the weird midi length is actually great for life with kids, versus something of a more “flattering” length. I have two similar dresses from Uniqlo and I wore them all summer – I can to to the playpark without flashing anyone, I can ride my bike in it, etc.

We’re on strike today (sigh…) so I ran some errands and was looking at the spring clothes. We’ve got 3 weeks in Portugal, so I need another couple of pairs of shorts and some loose linen trousers, and I should be set.

I need to dig out the summer stuff for T. I just do lots of laundry if it’s warm b/c Scottish summer is like 3 days in July 🙂

What a wise daughter you have. 🙂 Also, that’s a lovely dress!
