Love a new month.
LOVE. It’s so arbitrary! And I still love it.
My rituals now include changing my iPhone background:
My current favorite source is The Everygirl. I usually pick a calendar design for the home screen and an image-only for the lock screen. They are free. Some might argue having pretty phone backgrounds might reward picking up the phone, but I enjoy the little scenes AND changing them every month is sort of a marker of time passing, and living somewhere without really easily definable seasons — well, I can use as many markers as I can get!
The weather in DC is currently suboptimal
But, we are still home in FL! Ha. Will experience it soon though. I just finished a long (16 mi) run in 70s temps so will be SUPER excited to run in different conditions. TODAY:
PACK (SELF + KIDS)
FINANCIAL STUFF (net worth, monthly YNAB)
ATTEND BABY SHOWER (in Fort Lauderdale)
BDAY PARTY (G’s friend, located conveniently across the street!)
HEAT GAME
Yep. Too much as usual. Plus some laundry. Oh well. YNAB may have to wait . . . at least I don’t have to buy groceries. Back with April goals tomorrow (and then eventually some travel pix! I CANNOT compete with the epic travel blogging by Kae though so expect more minimalist recaps 🙂 ).

Oh my gosh! You leave tomorrow and that’s all on the list for today?! That would be very overwhelming to me!! Good luck!!
And I am sure your trip recaps will be much more “normal style”. 🤣🤣 I have tons of fun writing mine but yeah, they are excessively Detailed! 😅 Lol!! I can guarantee I won’t always be able to do them like this for every trip either bc it is time consuming for sure! I am thinking my 80 year old self may really like looking back on these posts one day, however. 🙂
Hope you guys have a blast on your trip and that your weather is perfect.
I change the background of my work desktop every month, I also take the images from the everygirl, it’s also useful to have the calendar. Have a fun trip!
dc has the best running trails. I miss dc for that. enjoy.
Thank you for linking to these phone backgrounds on The Everygirl! I’m so excited to use these every month. Have a great trip!
I am also amazed by your busy schedule on the eve of a trip! But, honestly, having more free time can lead a person to feel compelled to clean and organize everything as they pack and take 10 x more time packing than necessary (I obviously don’t do this, this is just a theory 😏). Coincidentally I (my husband!) am (is) driving to Jax, Florida as I type. Started yesterday, 12 hours total, 1 hour to go! Can’t wait to read your recaps! Maybe a photo log? Quick cell shots can be a great memory prompt and only require minimal captions. Enjoy DC!
