Weekend

Weekend: Pix Etc

January 25, 2025

Pix from the Week

one of his specialties, omelette + sautéed potatoes
I ran in heaven conditions this morning. I’m sure this probably translates to 0 degree temps up north but wow it was amazing.
Williams College spotting on the cover of Annie Bot! (I did not know she went there; she graduated 18 years before me, but still cool. Also learned Sierra Greer is a pseudonym!
ALSO I LOVED THIS BOOK SO MUCH.)
this was last weekend but headed to more of the same! Kae was not amused by this pic because I think they had negative temps where she was when I sent it.

Other happenings:

  • A just returned from a 2 day school trip to DISNEY WORLD (lucky Floridian kids, I think I went to like . . Gettysburg for my 7th grade field trip). They did some leadership training course and then got to run around Hollywood Studios. She had a great time.
  • I am supposed to go to a conference in May (Peds Endo Society, in DC) but a ton of us in my group want to go to the same conf, so I started to investigate alternatives and found out Endo Society is in San Francisco in July. I think I am going to maybe do that instead? I think my May self (and all of the kid activities that typically happen around that time? plus the end of marathon training?) might be appreciative, and we don’t have much going on in July.

We have a soccer heavy weekend once again, including a game on another planet (ok it’s in Palm Beach Gardens but that is FAR!). Will get in some fun family time + hopefully a long overdue email cleanout . . .

Thank you for the celebration of the book release!! I promise I will let everyone know (probably too many times) when it is out for preorder!

Finally subscribed, IDK what happened/ why it took me so long to finally get on the blog.
It feels like I’m reading a fun update from a friend. Love this picture post 🙂

Going well! Half marathon training is underway and I’ve been having fun with it.
Getting more sleep too, that’s a bonus! Ty for asking.

Come to San Francisco in July! Maybe we can hang out! Also it’s pretty chilly here in July. Lots of fog. Which you would probably love at that point in the year. 🤣

I would, and I would love to meet up! Maybe we can go for a run!!!

Everybody always fights tooth and nail to go to my professional society’s annual conference, but they always plan it over spring break, so it is a FIGHT to go each year (accompanied by passive aggressive remarks about how I am junior and don’t really deserve to go even though I am tenure track and present stuff). TBH the science is usually pretty low quality, but it’s good networking for me. I do have a talk this year, but in the future, I am thinking of maybe going to the European version of the same conference which is typically held in September (not March). Recent locations have included Prague, Athens, and Lisbon. I’m sure I’ll get crap for asking for this too because that’s just how people are where I work… but meh.

Just added Annie Bot to my TBR list! You are the second person I’ve heard recommend it.

Congrats on the book announcement!! That’s awesome! Let me know if you need a beta reader! I’m 100+ a year and have done a few beta reads including Laura’s basketball fiction. 😎

Those are some cold temps for you guys! But I bet that run felt so good. We are finally out of the super cold weather and just in normal cold weather now. I went for a long walk this morning when it was 24°. It felt nice! We might hit 40 next week going to field tropical lol.

I’m impressed by C’s cooking skills!!! Looks delicious!

The conference in July sounds a lot more appealing than May which tends to be so busy and is extra busy for you with your marathon trip, anniversary, birthday (I think?), end of school stuff, etc. And you’ll appreciate the cooler SF temps in July!!

Or you could go to the joint ESPE/ESE conference in Copenhagen? (I really want to go but alas exams). Although that is right before the US one in May.

The only way my work would pay for that is if I had something being presented and I don’t really have anything right now (unless they want a planning talk, lol). But I am dying to go to Copenhagen . Maybe some day!

Ha- yes, lucky Florida kids. Our band trip is to Universal this year.
I’m embarrassed to admit that it got a little TOO cold for me last week! I mean… I’ll take it, and I would rather have 40s than 90s. But brrr… let’s stick with 50s and 60s from now on.
