Yesterday we had A’s gym meet and today we are in Legoland.

The meet went decently although A wasn’t as happy with her performance as she was in the last one. I There’s another one next week though (and 2 more after that) so she’s okay with it!

I am currently gearing up for a day at Legoland. I think the kids are aging out (the big ones anyway) but we hadn’t been since 2019 and they were excited about it (we planned this in mostly just because we had to come up for the meet and figured why not). Last night G & C actually ran into friends from school staying at the Legoland hotel (!) but then bedtime was kind of rough – I feel like we’ve aged out of “kids don’t sleep well outside of the home” phase but the 3 of them were kind of unable to wind it down until well past 10 and my patience for that is far lower than when they were little!
ANYWAY. Today is a new day. Josh and I are running first and then we’ll hit the park. I remember ~6 hrs being MORE than enough for this particular theme park last time. I’m not a huge fan of roller coasters and I’m not sure all of the kids are either (C in particular doesn’t love them which feels really off-brand for him, but he also hasn’t tried any in a while).
I received word from my editor that my last manuscript submission was accepted so I am really REALLY done with book-writing now! There’s still copy editing to go, and cover selection, and approving graphics etc, but I can now say “I wrote a book” and it’s actually true. I honestly didn’t feel the relief of being done right away but it’s starting to sink in — I didn’t hate the writing process at all, but I’m also just so excited not to have the deadlines (and book-associated swirling ideas) on my mind all of the time!
I feel excited to dig deeper into my non-book 2025 goals and projects and focus on other things for a while. A lot is actually happening (good things!) over the next couple of months but I hadn’t really let myself think about it until now.
Things Coming Up in the Next 2 Months
Speaking at WCICON (and getting to see what that conference is like!)
305 Half Marathon next weekend in Miami Beach – that kind of came out of nowhere. As of now, the weather actually looks good (!)
Brainstorming / podcasting retreat with Laura
1:1 day with G (need to schedule other kids but she is 3/26 and knows the date and is planning all sorts of adventures)
BACK to strength training – omg, I took 2 weeks off!!
Book club, for which I need to read All Fours in the next 10 days once I get home (have not started yet)
More gym meets + soccer tournaments. Neither kid is sure if they’ll be doing the same teams next year so just trying to have fun with these while they are happening.
Basically every weekend has something (and often a couple of somethings!) for the foreseeable future. I think this is just the season!

Ooh, Legoland! I’ve been there. It’s definitely a smaller, more manageable park. Hopefully there’s still enough for the bigger kids to do (I think there will be.) And- you’re running a half!!! Luckily our weather is looking cooler these days. Most importantly- you’re done! You wrote a book! This is so exciting. And yes, I bet it will feel good to get back to normal life for a while.
I did not realize there was a Lego land in Florida! That seems like something that our boys would enjoy when they’re a little bit older, but not too old obviously!
Congrats on having your manuscript accepted! You wrote a book! That is such an accomplishment, so I hope you celebrate it!!!
Yes it’s a little more than an hour from Orlando! I think this is our 3rd visit. It’s very low key compared to Disney.
Congratulations! You wrote your first book. Can’t wait to read it.
Congratulations! That’s amazing. I remember when I finished my PhD, I didn’t know how to process it. I was 8.5 months pregnant which didn’t help.
Your weekend sounds fun. We went to Legoland Denmark last year and were so pleasantly surprised. We thought we’d only spend half a day at the park and spend the next day at Lego House (all the history and science of Lego, and the nicest staff you’ve ever encountered). And we opened and closed the park. In retrospect, I’d like a third day – 1 at legoland, 2 at lego house. Maybe we’ll go to Copenhagen and then head to Billund.
Ooh, this is interesting. We’re hoping to take our two girls (newly 5 and newly 8) and I’d got it in my head we’d want 2 days at legoland and 1 at Lego house.
Congratulations on finishing the book! What a great accomplishment.
Someone I work with said All Fours is quite the page turner so that may help you finish it quickly. I was given a copy by someone who invited me to speak to their group about menopause. I feel like to need to bump it up the to-be-read list.
How many times a year do you do 1×1 day with each kid
1!
Congrats on the book! What a major accomplishment and I hope you’re able to savour the feeling of success and completion. I know you’ll have lottttts more to do, but this is a huge step and I hope you find some special ways to celebrate <3
You wrote a whole book! What an accomplishment! Congrats!
aww, thank you!!!
