Running Reading Etc!

16 Weeks Until Bayshore

I feel like they are going to go quickly.

M: Social run! 8 mi @ 9:08/mi with friends. 1 hr lower body strength training @ gym.

T: 7.24 easy @ 9:18/mi. 58F / 88%.

W: 1.5 mi warmup, 12 x 400m with 400m recovery, 1.5 mi cooldown (just under 9 mi total). 57F, 91%. The last truly good weather day of the week (uhh, hopefully not of the winter). Unlike last week, I paced myself well. Paces for the 400m were 6:54/mi to 7:07/mi, ave 7:00. 1 hr upper body strength training @ gym.

R: NADA. Had to protect hair!

F: 2 warmup (8:49/mi x 2), 5 MPish (7:56, 8:09, 8:08, 8:24, 7:56), 2 cooldown (9:25, 9:43). 66F, 87% humidity. Done with my super fast friend (this is not fast for her) and the chatting def helped distract me!

S: 8 easy @ 9:47/mi. 70F / 95% humidity. Legs felt a little blah, but that is fine for after a tempo workout!

S: 12 mi @ 8:56/mi ave. Kind of . . . hot. Felt just okay, listened to Bad Bunny the last several miles which helped. 69F at start but 76F at the end and 98% humidity (EW). AND will be 30 min full body, I’m determined! Probably Callie.

Total: 53 mi / strength x 3

Reading

No books finished, but I am >50% through The Good Mother Myth and about 40% through You Are Here. (I am taking a pause on Tim Urban until I finished Good Mother since I’m about to interview that author!)

Screen Time

I can’t cherrypick the ‘good’ weeks, so here you go!

Well, 3/7 days were pretty good! I feel like this week will be better.

Also, some weird inaccuracies – that Florida site is the one I went to check my medical licensure renewal (all was fine) and I’m not sure why my phone thinks I hung out there scrolling for hours!

Because you are going to interview the author of Good Mother: Donald Winnicott coined the term “good enough mother” and the theory, it is still a huge reference to psychiatry today. I wonder if your future interviewee references him. Second qq: Has any of these apps usage time gone up because you quit Reddit? Is there one filling the Reddit void? As an outsider, all these stats says one thing: you prefer written form of communication and lots of it!

She talks about Winnicott quite a bit!!

And no, not really. I’m not scrolling, really. More like … checking for things. Well prob texting and WhatsApp have gone up!

Okay. You’ve convinced me to try Annie Bot. Definitely not my typical genre, but I am excited to try it. I need to convince a friend to read it so I can have a mini book club! It seems like one I’ll want to discuss.

Yes!!!! Do it. And report back!

It is WILD to me that this is a less good screen time week for you. I average closer to double that. Granted, I do most of my reading on my phone, but still… just want to put it out there that I am very impressed!

3h would be a good screen time week for me. I had 6h today, admittedly with 90 min texting and 75 min peloton, but still 2h scrolling.

Today I did a 45 min run + 15 min walking and then 20 min legs with Adrian Williams followed by 30 min stretching. Adrian Williams was hard af. Highly recommend. Finished Long Island Compromise and then ending was *so good*. I am starting the Wedding People tonight, or at least I will try.

Yes Adrian is tough! I did a strength workout but ended up just doing own whole watching more Sex Lives. (Sets of squats deadlifts lat lunges static lunges etc). Def want to hear what you think or the wedding ppl.

Reddit is BLEAK right now. I don’t have an account, but you don’t need one to just scroll the main feed and the vibes are bad. I don’t have the app or an account but I wish there was a way to block webpages specifically on my phone without a third party app. I am never happy I checked it out – Stay strong!

I most definitely hope that winter is not over here as well! I’d love a few more weeks of early morning temps in the 40s and 50s. Today is week 1 for me training for Pittsburgh. Last week was supposed to be but I was flattened by a kid virus. Hopefully that means I got the illness of my training cycle out of the way early.

Maybe a dumb question, but how do you know that you’ve run 400 meters? Are you doing these workouts on a track, or do you have an app or watch that tracks this?

Apple Watch 🙂 it allows you to set intervals in meters or miles. It’s not totally perfect but it’s pretty accurate esp if you’re in a flat area without big buildings like my neighborhood!

        Thanks!! This is helpful!

Our screen time has been broken for months. It will show random things 24/7 even when powered off!
