Am I really doing a whole week? We will see. I ended up picking a weird week (though again: many weeks are weird weeks). There will be FOUR clinical days (1 more than usual) and some travel. But here was yesterday!

5:15: Up, plan, read more of Life is in the Transitions. Quote of the day: “Transitions are coming. Be prepared.” — page 17
5:45: Headspace, NYT games
6:15: Peloton strength workout – 20 min Selena glutes + legs (I subbed out the squat jumps . . . but probably still more of a cardio load than desired), 10 min Callie core.
7:00: Breakfast (oatmeal / pb / raisins today), get ready, remind kids that I am driving all 3 and I need them to be on time. They were pretty independent!!
7:35: Begin driving with kid-selected music in the car. Drop off A. Hit crazy traffic jam between the 2 schools (this is NOT typical – the commute is usually really predictable!). Drop off C/G.
8:45: Arrive at work ~15 minutes later than I would have liked. Dive straight into patients (notes + results follow up between encounters).
12:00: Start writing blog post while waiting for friend to be ready to meet for lunch
12:20: Meet colleagues/friends in cafeteria. Lunch (salmon / salad / toasted bread); catch up with adult endo friend.
1:00: Division meeting (we have these every month, though sometimes they are cancelled so really it’s not that frequent!). Get updates on various things, periodically contribute.
2:30: Meeting ended slightly earlier than time blocked, so took 10 min to finish blog post and then took a quick walk in gorgeous weather while listening to this week’s Happier podcast. Then more patients, follow ups.
5:00: INBOX ZERO BABY!

Pack up and drive home, listening to Julien Baker/Torres album and really liking it.
5:40: Home! Dinner with G & C (A is at gymnastics), leftover pasta from the previous night followed by one of these. G is unenthusiastic about this but ultimately eats some. Clean up. Kids watch some TV (a Mark Rober video).
6:30: G piano lesson (teacher comes to our house, she is awesome); I eavesdrop and read on the couch; C texts a school friend
7:15: POWER GOES OUT IN ENTIRE NEIGHBORHOOD. AHHHH! Make possible contingency plan to go with Josh to Naples (he was headed there with Cameron that night). Start packing. Despair about barely changed phone and possibility of food in freezer going bad.
7:45: POWER BACK ON OMG. Whew! G/C watch Chopped while I read Back After This on couch.
8:35: Drive with G to gym pickup; Josh and C leave for Naples.
9:00: Home with A (she had a great practice, working on new skill: back walkovers on beam). Put G to bed.
9:15: Read in bed, skincare, scroll a bit (oops).
10:10: Sleep
Ways in which today was not typical: Usually I have a full day of patients on Friday (division meeting with time blocked off not very common); Josh/C traveling, though Josh is often home a little later on Fridays; traffic jam; power outage!

On Thursday and Friday, I got wordle on the 6th attempt which is not typical for me!! But I am having a better steak for Connections which I am not great at for some reason!
I am glad your power was restored!! We have lost power a couple of times for over 24 hours and that was rough. Both times the houses across the street had power! But I guess they are on a different transformer.
We got a whole house generator after losing power for a week in 2022 (thankfully it was summer and I could shower at the pool). Then this winter it was so cold that the oil in it congealed and it wouldn’t start when the power went out. That day it was 6 degrees F. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!! Fortunately the power wasn’t out for long and we got it fixed but man….
I think that I’ve figured out that in your case, Dr. Sarah Hart-Unger, you’ll write 2 copies of time-tracking records in total: One on the planner, and the other in your DITL posts.
I think we’ll see if the electric power company that serves you will give an explanation. If it is something that is out of their control, they can clarify that by giving an explanation.
I assume that when you mentioned that you failed at Wordle, you mean that on Friday, you did not get what the word was in 5 attempts. Is that right?
It’s 6 attempts – and yep, failed!
All right. Unfortunately I have nothing to suggest for you in this case, Dr. Sarah Hart-Unger. I think we’ll see what happens in the next round.
The only thing better than DITL is week in the life!
Half an hour without power is a very long half hour. Yikes!
it was rough not knowing how long it would be! Apparently there was some electrical fire in the neighborhood (no one hurt!) and they had to turn off the whole area to fix something.
I forget which day it was- it might have been Friday- but my husband failed at Wordle and he was slightly upset that it ended his streak. So you’re not alone!
I think it would be hard to do a week of DITL posts without some anomalies creeping in. And, that’s a good thing- think how dull like would be if you could predict every single thing that happens. That said- glad your power came back on. Eesh, I hate power outages.
