1- Nicole‘s book is out! A novel about midlife revival? By someone as awesome as Nicole? I’m here for it!! Just ordered!

2- Caroline reviewed her credit card points & miles wins in 2025. LOVED this (and all the cold, hard data she included). She is rocking the bank bonuses, an area I am too terrified to deal with (I just know I will mess it up somehow and lose $$$).
3- Why ARE Billionares? We Can Do Hard Things had a super interesting and fiery take on this and I thought it was really well done. (First link is Spotify; here’s the Apple).

4- I am reading a philosophy book. This is not a genre I am used to, but the author has made it pretty accessible!

5- Weekend plans: We are tentatively going to see Marty Supreme. I say “tentatively” because that plan was made before I swapped a call weekend and I’m a little bit leery of going to the movie theater on call. YES, I can step out and answer calls but ALSO YES, I will be distracted about the possibility of doing that the whole time. I know I will not be relaxed at all.
So, we will see. Otherwise, it’s kind of a ‘regular’ weekend around here (all the usual kids’ sports stuff, but no big meets or tournaments or anything), plus I’ll be working. AND doing a bunch of tax stuff. If we don’t do the movie, Josh and I will still do dinner out. Need to get in date night #2 for the month!

Just ordered the book too! so excited to read it tonight!
I ordered on paperback so I won’t get it for week or so, but that’s ok!!
I ordered the book from my favorite indie! I can’t wait to read it! I still need to read yours, too! I don’t get to my physical books as fast as I’d like since I only read them at night alongside Paul when he’s doing his daily reading. We got the next book in the national parks series we’ve been reading and he said I can read it aloud to him so I am excited about that since he hasn’t been up for read alouds lately!
Your weekend plans sound great. A date night or movie sounds fun! Both boys have birthday parties tomorrow plus a sports activity. I am glad we have things to do because it’s going to be bitterly cold with feels like temps of -30F. Sigh. This is the hardest part of winter for me!
I don’t get nearly as many calls as you do when I am on call, so we often plan for that time the same way we plan for the rest of life. But there was one time when my husband and I were in the car driving to a broadway play when I got a call that patient of mine with Type 1 diabetes was going to have an emergency c-section in the next couple of hours. Of course we had great seats from and center with 20 people to climb over in either direction to get out.
I ended up speaking to the head usher who was lovely, they put a chair right by the door for me. I sat with my phone on vibrate in my lap. I wasn’t relaxed but I still enjoyed the show and as luck would have it they were ready to reset the patient’s insulin pump during intermission. I stayed in my seat by the door for the second half of the show just in case there were issues, but ultimately it worked out great.
