The only thing it did not contain much of was packing, but ultimately that worked out!
After G kicked off her summer gymnastics (rec classes 2x/week most weeks), it was time to get ready for the annual dance show! This was our 3rd round, and the second time both G & A were performing (the first year it was actually just G — while watching, A got inspired to sign up herself and has loved it ever since).
As always, the show was really well done and both girls were great!! G knew her dances so well and gave great facial expressions and A had one of the mo ‘featured’ parts in the jazz performance (and I may be biased but I feel she nailed it).
(I would love to share pix but I can’t seem to get any good shots without other kids in them!! So here’s a far shot.)

AND THEN speaking of nails, I crammed in a nail appointment (peach nails + turquoise toes) with G (A was too tired) before dinner.

AT THE MELTING POT.
Okay, it may not be the most highbrow gastronomic experience. But it is now a full on tradition to go as a family at the end of the school year, and the kids always ask for it (G has been mentioning it for weeks). I was trying to remember how many years it has been and then remembered – YNAB has the answer!

(Josh’s parents joined us in 2023, explaining the little price bump there!
Not sure why 2021 was SOOO much less but maybe we ordered less. I remember going in wearing masks!)
5/5 times I have left feeling like I ate a week’s worth of cheese and chocolate in one sitting, and with lots of happy memories. (A noted at one point “we have 5 of these dinners left” to which someone replied “well, 5 left with YOU”, meaning that obviously we could still go after she graduated. Had to laugh AND cry at that!)
Anyway, you might wonder when packing happened with all of that and the answer is . . it didn’t (though somehow I managed to do G’s suitcase as she was getting ready for bed). Thankfully I am a morning person and was happy to get the job done before we left for the airport (at the very humane-for-us hour of 8 AM — we tend to take those cheaper flights that leave at the crack of dawn, but somehow the Boston options allowed for this more merciful timeline).

SOOO here we go. Excited for our NH adventure and will definitley report back! Another THANK YOU to everyone who sent tips (and the incredibly kind Kara who mailed me maps + brochures — which are packed!).
So far we’ve made it from MIA to Boston (flight was easy + I did some Q3 planning, some writing, and read a bunch of Julie Chan is Dead) and then from Boston to North Conway. We have already eaten lobster rolls (super late lunch) + ice cream (dinner . . . hey, it’s vacation), so I would say we are winning.

The kids acted kind of insane for a few hours (the end of the drive + initially at the hotel) but seem to have calmed a bit. I feel like this happens on every vacation!? More later!

Cute pics! Josh looks very already in “relaxed vacay mode” there. Call? Surgery? What’s that?😅 Have a most wonderful time soaking up some fresh mountain air and enjoying the family time!! 💗
