I subscribe to Jodi Wellman’s newsletter (her book, You Only Die Once, is one of my favorites) and she had a fantastic prompt in the most recent one:
“I dare you to sit yourself down right now and write a list of 10 things you like… things you’re “into.”
I took the bait. Here is my list:
(Not included are obvious things like “my husband” and “hanging with my family”, though #13 is a particularly specific family-related joy.)
It was interesting to ask myself this question and you might enjoy doing it as well – share your list in the comments if you’d like!!
THINGS I AM INTO, OCTOBER 2025 EDITION
- Coffee (black or oat milk cappuccinos!)
- Taylor Swift (and singing loudly along with her)
- Hobonichi Planners (well, all planners)
- Lazy weekend afternoons spent reading (THE BEST)
- Blogging (explains why I’ve hung around this space for 21 years . . .)
- Dinner dates with good friends (friends + good food + wine + fun atmosphere = alchemy)
- Pilates with a great instructor (learning to embrace what I can do!)
- Crisp fall weather (probably because I never get it)
- Big Sky, Montana (skiing, coziness, family, love it all)
- Ice cream (especially a Reese’s DQ blizzard)
- New Years’ Day (fave holiday!) and New Years’ Eve (runner up)
- Connecting with friends new and old (encompasses any and all girls trips)
- When my kids are nice to each other (HEART MELTS)
- The number 14!

What’s on your list? You can choose 10, or 5, or 14 . . .
If we know what we love and are “into”, we can make sure to include these things in our lives, hopefully on a regular basis. (Today will include #1, #2, #3, #5, #7, #12, and hopefully a little bit of #13!)

TY! I sometimes feel like I may be becoming the “struggling trainee” whisperer. Sometimes it feels like only the “best” trainees (or trainees with the “right” image) get boosted and supported by the department, but I feel strongly that all of them deserve the opportunity to become the best dr they can be, even if they don’t fit the profile of the “perfect” resident.
This sounds so important, and fascinating. If you write about it more please let me know.

[…] Yesterday SHU shared a list of things she’s “into”, inspired by Jodi Wellman’s newsletter prompt. I thought, “there’s a great Friday post for me!” And YOU’RE probably thinking, “Good grief! Are we going to hear about cats, football, books, and Earl Grey tea AGAIN???” Fear not- I’ve tried to compile a list of things I don’t talk about all the time (or at least… I’ll try to talk about some of these in a different way).
