1- Pilates Follow Up: I thought of an idea –> I should try to go to more post-work classes. I can definitely arrive home a little late once a week or so without it being too much of a pain for anyone, and it might be nice to have extra time in the morning sometimes (for sleep or other things). And this would give me more options for the coveted 1.5 classes.
Of course after I had this brilliant idea I saw that the Monday PM class I wanted was already waitlisted. BUT I’m first in line, and I feel like for an afternoon class SOMEONE is going to cancel, right!? It’s very funny that after I posted the other day people contacted me with totally opposite opinions – some people said “just shell out the extra for the unlimited” and others said “ditch the membership entirely”. I will say that I am kind of difficult to please when it comes to group classes outside the home, and I legitimately enjoy going to CP (it’s also just close enough that the drive doesn’t feel annoying – I can get there in 6 minutes) so I do plan on keeping it for now.
Oh and one other update I am SURE everyone was on baited breath for (jk)–> I emailed the middle school teacher (politely, but expressing my desire to . . . not have to stress over getting 9 million plastic bottles) and was assured that it is okay if we decide not to participate. Nothing bad will happen. They even have ideas for an alternate project if there aren’t enough bottles. So, that was good!
2- I finished A Marriage At Sea yesterday. For anyone who hasn’t heard about it (it got a lot of buzz!), it’s a true story about a married couple who undertook a sea voyage and ended up losing their boat after running into a whale about 6 months in. They ended up on a raft and dinghy with little food surviving on their own for 118 days in the middle of the ocean.
(THERE IS ABSOLUTELY no way I would have lasted, but let’s face it, I wouldn’t have undertaken the voyage in the first place. They were some seriously adventurous brave and resourceful people!).
Anyway, I would have wanted MORE marriage content and LESS post-shipwreck discussion, but I guess they were piecing things together the best they could from records. The female half of the couple (Maralyn) sounded like someone I would have wanted to be friends with.
I just realized that even though I was reading this as my “novel”, it’s actually non-fiction so I need to recategorize it on my list! It does read largely like a novel, though.
(I was going to ask for recs for my next read but then remembered that Nicole’s book came in the mail!! I’m so excited to dive in!)

3- I thought that last part of Cal’s DQ latest ep — with his thoughts on the digital forces/pressure that are likely shaping actual news and world events — was both interesting and terrifying.
4- Self-promotional note #1: I was on Dr. Dawn Baker’s Practice Balance Podcast talking about my career pathway — how my current hybrid situation came to be. It was a fun conversation talking about things different than the usual!
5- Self-promotional note #2: South(ish) Floridians: I’ll be in Central Palm Beach County 2/25 at 6 pm (and Jenny might come, so you can meet her too if it works out!) giving a free talk at the Lantana Library. (I’m not on their online calendar yet, but they confirmed with me so should be good!). They are giving free swag out (like, fun pens etc!) so if nothing else, you will likely not go home empty-handed!

So excited for you for your library talk. I could get you in a book store or library in St Pete if that is ever on your bingo card!
I wish I lived closer. Meeting Jenny is at the tippy top of my blog friend meetup wish list and to be able to meet her at a SHU event would blow. my. mind.
Hooray for not actually having to come up with all those recyclables!
My book has arrived at a local bookstore… I just need to drive to a nearby town to pick it up. It is on my radar and will happen this weekend. I can’t wait to dive in.
I am in the minority and did not love A Marriage at Sea. I thought it was odd to write a book about something that a book had already been written about (by the couple). But it was loved by so many so I am clearly the outlier. I can’t put my finger on why I felt kind of meh about it, though!
Love this list of updates! Pilates classes are uber popular right now. In my city, classes fill up so quickly that I’m often 6th on the waitlist for classes four weeks out when I sign up the morning membership registration opens.
I chose a studio ~15 mins. away because I couldn’t get into ANY classes at two studios that are closer (including CP, where people sign up months in advance!). I love it and it seems everyone else does too.
Well, now I HAVE to go to your talk!!! Ha, it’s on my calendar.
That book- I keep hearing about it. It sounds fascinating. I want to read it! And you reminded me I need to order Nicole’s book. I think everyone has it but me!
I’m very relieved on your behalf about the plastic bottle situation ; )
Oh yay! I’m so happy to see this – I hope you enjoy it!
Also, wtf. Why so many plastic bottles? WHAT IF YOU DON’T HAVE PLASTIC BOTTLES? School projects like that feel stressful to me!
I just started it and it’s great!!!!!
