Travel Weekend

If only we were packed . . .

February 14, 2026

Feeling happy this morning! I went to the “test out for level 2” class at Club Pilates, and got the go-ahead to move up! I also got some useful tips about things I need to work on (spinal alignment etc), but the instructor said I was ready and would enjoy the 2.0 classes. Yay! (One of my 2026 personal goals: ✅, way earlier than I thought!)

(Every CP studio handles ‘moving up’ differently. For ours, the ‘test out’ was essentially a specific 1.5 class with a bit less cueing than normal, and you had to tell them in the beginning you were interested in being watched for a test out. We didn’t do anything too crazy but I was a bit nervous and definitely tried really hard to keep my form as clean as I could! I have taken 40 classes so far which is nothing compared to many people so I have a feeling my studio is not among the strictest on this!).

This will not entirely solve my challenges with getting into enough classes as a non-unlimited member, but does provide a few more options.

Prior to class I had set out the clues for the V-day treasure hunt, and it was super cute. The kids ate See’s with breakfast as per tradition.

victory!

AAAAND I’m off of work for the next week! Well, clinical work, anyway. (I know it probably seems like we were just off for the holidays, but I did work straight through the past 6 weeks, including a call week in there. Also, my PL time in 2026 IS somewhat front-loaded – that’s just how I decided to allocate it based on the kids’ breaks and what we have going on. I will have to remember this if/when I’m feeling ready for some time off towards the fall/winter).

The kid missing sports seems to be relatively at peace with it, though I do not think we will plan for a full week off in this time frame next year. For now though – just going with it/embracing it. We’ll be seeing family + friends and it will be nice to get some time away from the usual routines (not that I mind them, but a break will be good for all of us).

IF ONLY WE WERE PACKED . . .

(WHY is packing always the bane of my existence? It’s not like I typically forget anything important but the process just always feels so high stakes and daunting. You would think we travel enough that it should easy, stress-free, frictionless? Never. It always feels like an ordeal and there is literally never a trip where I feel like I have ANYTHING remotely appropriate to wear. I think this might just be a permanent affliction and much more in my mind than in reality . . .).

Wish me luck!

And happy Valentine’s Day, Galentine’s Day, or just weekend if you aren’t into celebrating these specific days. (I kind of like them both, though!)
