Most of these are like . . . “keep on doing what you’re doing!”, because it’s a PACKED month.
I did my usual breakdown today (just 6 days late) and there are:
- 11 clinical days (2 already happened)
- 6 nonclinical work days (2 already happened)
- 4 travel days (more on that below!)
- 1 MOHS surgery day (blah)
- 9 weekend days at home or holidays (Memorial Day)
I’ve been hitting at a couples trip on points and I suppose I might as well share – Josh and I are going to Miraval Berkshires! This is a retreat-style hotel with meals and a lot of experiences included, and it’s definitely above our usual price range (and admittedly I am not one to skimp on hotels).
BUT – I booked it using Chase points! And that made it pretty reasonable. Chase points transfer to Hyatt (pretty favorably most of the time!), and Miraval is owned by Hyatt, so there you go. Josh and I are going together to celebrate our 20th anniversary (and yes, we are milking that occasion because I also feel that Hawaii trip is to celebrate, but I think a kids’-free trip makes sense for this too, right?!)
ANYWAY! I can’t wait. I will let you all know how it is.
But first we have 2 more normalish-weeks to get through. May features the celebratory trifecta of Mother’s Day, my birthday, and our anniversary so I honestly end up having some weird moods around it all, and that may be especially true this year (Mother’s Day is quite bittersweet without Bebe).
I also have some fitness-y things I am wanting to try but I have to pick G up from her tutor so I’ll save those for another post.

Happy May, y’all.

I’ve heard great things about Miraval. A coworker went to the one in Tucson and raved about it. I could never get Phil to pull the trigger but maybe someday I will do a girls trip.
I kind of hate Mother’s Day TBH. I would be fine if we just took it off the calendar. I think about all the women who badly want to be mothers and aren’t or those who have lost a mom or have a fractures relationship with theirs… so the strife around the holiday offsets the joy for me. All I want is a PB cup blizzard on or around the holiday!
All I want is a PB cup blizzard ALL the time, so I get it!
My hubby and I did a weekend there last summer! Curious to hear what you think after you go. A tarot card reading class was one of our highlights!
ooh good to know! We have a bunch of hiking, a ‘floating meditation’, archery (Josh’s pick!), but not Tarot as of now . . but would be fun!
I can not wait to hear about Miraval! And the fact that you booked it on points is amazing.
Happy birthday month! <3
I had no ideal Miraval existed. It is about 40 min away from where my parents live. Looks really nice though! Thanks for the reminder to plan something for our 20th anniversary which happens this November. I usually take off the first week in December, so maybe then? We don’t have childcare though so we will probably be limited (ain’t no way I’m leaving an almost 15yo alone in the house for a full weekend lol).
Mother’s Day is not my favorite holiday, and it will probably be hard for you guys, especially Josh, this year. BUT- your trip with Josh will be great and I can’t wait to hear all about it.
i’m also interested to see what you’re trying now that you’ve finished Iron Series!
We went to a Weird Al concert a couple of years ago, and I had the same initial reaction, but it was actually amazing! The weekend away looks lovely.
that is good to hear! I’m sure we will have fun. It’s at a venue super close to our house that is kinda fun too.
We plan retreats for my work at Miraval Berkshires and it sounds fantastic! I’m sure you’ll have a great time there and definitely a 20th anniversary deserves a kid-free trip too!
