Q4 Goals: In Progress Edition

August 26, 2026

I just realized that I never posted these! You all know I love a good goals list to look back on, so here we go. I don’t think I’ve ever been so far along on a goals list before sharing it, but I guess that is a little dash of Q4 magic.

Notably, I did a ton of reflection before committing in this particular season! I even picked a word (RESTORE). I really did not want to overload myself, but at the same time felt a strong pull to really get back on track with various rhythms and routines after a summer that was . . . just a lot on many fronts.

So, here we go!

SELF:

1- Continue Empowered workouts; commit to 2 per week at the gym. So far, this is going really well — I even made it three times last week! I’m slowly gaining confidence with various gym equipment and enjoying learning more. (I am still a total newbie AND I still seem to be getting pretty good workouts!)

2- Back to macro tracking + overall eating with intention. Summer got a little . . . hodgepodge, to put it kindly. I am back on the protein train, aiming for close to 100g/day. I don’t always make it, but I feel like I’ve done a much better job with purposeful nutrition (and still some room for fun/treats) in this season so far.

3- Try a drawing course or book. New analog hobby alert! I am not a natural artist AT ALL but I feel like learning a little bit would be fun? Recs welcome. Thinking something super low key here . . . YouTube series, MasterClass, SkillShare, etc . . .but something where I’m diving in and playing right away and can do in short bursts.

4- Pick the cross-stitch back up! Haven’t yet but doesn’t this just sound so FALL??

RELATIONSHIPS:

1- Continue the 2x/month date nights. Love this rhythm. So glad Josh can drive again.

2- Weekly Sunday family meetings with more structure. YES, have implemented – we go through the board, discuss upcoming events, etc. Could probably add even more structure . . .

3- Reconnect Book Club – we didn’t meet all summer, but we now have a meetup on the calendar for September! So, in progress.

4- Visit PHL. Going this weekend . . .

HOME:

1- Declutter C / G rooms. Oh MAN. I think I need to break this down further. But I REALLY REALLY WANT TO DO IT! (And I think they do too!)

2- Create fall menu rotation. Have not started but maybe I could pick 10 fall-ish picks from my new cookbook and also combine with 10 “old favorites” and we could choose from that list all season.

3- Move forward with kids’ bathroom reno. I shouldn’t even have this on my list really because Josh is going to commandeer this. But I could help him with the momentum.

4- Buy SOME fall accents for our house. I am the worst with decor but I think a couple of fall-scented soaps or candles would be a delight.

WORK:

1- Pod pitches, including Life Kit. I DID indeed pitch Life Kit after much hemming and hawing! And now that I have that email, I could repurpose it for other podcasts. (But will I? No really, I should). Is there a podcast you think I would be an awesome guest on? Please let me know! (It’s the right season for this as many podcasts would be thinking ahead to plan “new year” / “end of year” planning-type content.)

2- Create BLP CME Videos. YEP! I’m basing these on my BLP at Home structure, so I have a scaffold to start with. I will be offering these along with Planning 2027 so that participants can get 5 hours of CME or equivalent in multiple healthcare-related fields! Well, assuming everything works out on time. But in the works!

3- Complete all workbook drafts. Every year I redo my workbooks for Planning 202x, BLP Live, Planning By Season, and this year I have also decided to take on Nested Goals. These have to be done early so that my designer can work her magic and make everything super functional and cute. So far BLP Live and Planning 2027 are DONE!

4- Figure out where to GET CME. DONE, because OpenEvidence allows for this (didn’t realize!). I had over 80 credits just sitting there — you do have to fill out surveys, but it’s doable. I was getting nervous since I need to renew my license in Jan 2027, and I didn’t attend PES in 2025 OR 2026! (Or 2024 for that matter. GAH, it is time!)

FUN:

1- Perez Art Museum to see their Sports Art exhibit. Already done, check!

2- Traditional TJ’s Pumpkin Lunch! My favorite fall tradition, ha! Can’t wait.

3- See Hobonichi planners IN PERSON. I have plans for this but it won’t be until I’ve already placed my order . Still exciting!

4- Try to learn about football. You guys I watched 20 minutes of the Dolphins Preseason game last weekend! That is about my attention span, but I’m slowly learning A LITTLE.

METAPLANNING

1- Plan Winter Break trip. DONE! Headed to Universal (all the Harry Potter stuff, Simpsons land, and EPIC Universe). Decision made, reservation in.

2- Plan college friends’ trip. We are already going but I had on my list to figure out a general itinerary. I”m not entirely sure the others are looking to be very scheduled, ha. But it will be nice to have some options thought through, at lease.

3- Book Hawaii! ALL flights booked (points / credit, spent $0 and I actually have now a $400 Alaska credit because things were slightly cheaper). 1/2 hotels booked. Looking good!

4- Routines to focus on: AM division of labor, PM bedtime. AM is going really well, PM . . . not so much. Need to work on it.
