Truro Dispatch #3 (and notes on a true break!)

We left off on September 27th, a super cozy day where we had a storm that was just bad enough to feel deliciously safe and warm inside. I feel so bad for the Jersey shore and areas that got hit much harder, because it truly wasn’t too bad up where we were!

Our last full day was Sunday, and I think all of us just wanted lots of super leisurely hangout time. I did do a chunk of work (mostly planning / thinking through October!) in the morning; my room had a cozy little desk and I brought my coffee down and worked steadily from ~6:30 – 9 AM.

Afterwards I felt SO GOOD (alleviating uncertainty and “omg does it all fit?” pressure will do that for me!) and greatly enjoyed a final hike (with Emily + Aimee) to a beautiful view:

Then we all headed to brunch at The Flying Fish followed by MOOOOORE puzzle time. (Again, not for me. But I hung out!). I also snuck away to record two errant ads that had not submitted their talking points prior to the trip, but that was quick and fairly painless.

We basically just hung out for hours until the afternoon, and then headed into Provincetown one last time for a little shopping and drinks at Ladyslipper. (SO fun, and we got there right as they opened — apparently it fills up FAST even in the off season!).

We headed back to the house where Emily’s husband had prepped some soup for us in the slow cooker (!!) and then several of us ended up in Emily’s hot tub! We spent hours trying to figure out exactly where our trips had taken us over the years, which was fun. (There have been 4 weddings that everyone attended, plus MANY group trips – Chicago x 2, Toronto, SF, Portland, Williamstown, Boston, Charlottesville, and more).

HOWEVER this one was particularly amazing and not trying to play favorites but I KNOW we will be going back to Truro.

This trip was really special. First of all, all of us have BEEN THROUGH various things, and it just felt great to share and be together and catch up. These ladies are special and it’s just a blast to hang out together! I feel so lucky we’ve cultivated this tradition and kept our 25+ year old bonds.

And bonus: I feel like I was really able to disconnect from work and just BE after a pretty hectic September.

I had a little bit of angst about my flight home, wondering if weather would be a factor. I booked a second refundable flight (different airline) but didn’t end up having to use it, which was excellent. We did leave a little late and I got home around 9, but re-entry was quite lovely (the kids gave me a welcome banner, everyone liked their gifts, and it just felt good to be home). Today I skipped my AM workout (too tired / rushed) but I would call this re-entry thus far a grand success.

I anticipate that our next reunion will be at our ACTUAL college reunion in June (our 25th) though not every member is as excited about attending as I am, ha.

Onward and upward into a new month, a busy October, and a week back into the fray of it all!
