fulfillled

i had a lovely and productive day yesterday. in addition to starting on the wards, i was able to fit in:

✭ quality time with josh
✭ a super-fantastic nap
✭ a good amount of academic reading
✭ a nice cardio workout
✭ 30 minutes of strength training
✭ a glass of cabernet sauvignon
✭ the creation of a fun and delicious dinner
✭ 30 minutes of owen meany before bed
✭ 8 hours of sleep.

this is because i got out of work at 2 pm. now if i could just convince the residency program to let me out mid-afternoon every day, life would be SWEET!

9.1.08

workout: 45 minutes of elliptical intervals (5.26 miles) + 30 minutes strength training:
– 2 x 12 pushups
– 2 x 10 each leg reverse lunges on bosu (8 lb weight in each hand)
– 2 x 12 lat pulldowns (40 lbs)
– 2 x 12 leg press machine (90 lbs)
– 2 x 12 tricep kickbacks (5 lbs)
– 2 x 12 bicep curls (12 lbs)
– 2 x 15 crunches
– 2 x 12 lateral/forward raises (6 lbs each arm)

reading: 45 minutes, first on cornelia de lange syndrome and then about idiopathic nephrotic syndrome

cooking: i made spaghetti with beet and goat cheese sauce from sara moulton’s secrets of weeknight meals cookbook. the grated and sauteed beets turned the pasta (i used whole wheat linguini) hot pink! it was a really cool-looking and delicious dinner. the only thing i would do next time is use more goat cheese – i only used 4 oz because that is what i had in the house and hadn’t noticed that the recipe had called for 10, and i think the extra would have added to the flavor. served with a salad . . . as shown below!

Thanks for learning about CdLS….so many doctors are clueless when it comes to this syndrome.
