we have a crib
and i now get excited every time i walk past our second bedroom . . .
a baby is going to live here!!!!!
[currently doing double duty as guest room]
[[excuse the mess! it’s a work in progress, clearly]]
expertly assembled by my dad and josh. a job well done . . .
victory!
my parents are in town because my mother + sister are throwing me a local baby shower! i actually feel all sorts of guilt about having not one but two parties, but there is essentially no guest overlap. today’s shower is a traditional women’s affair [except for my dad + josh], and it will be a mix of work friends/relatives/other friends/family — mostly people who know me but not each other! hopefully it will all work out.
i did visit my parents at about 7 weeks gestation, but this is the first time they’ve seen me in person REALLY pregnant [i’ll save the EXTREMELY for weeks 38 and beyond 🙂 ]. i think they were impressed . . . our baby girl is already taking over.
on our way to dinner. not sure if you can tell where the bump ends + josh begins
revolution
we headed out to one of my favorite durham restaurants last night: revolution. it’s easily walking distance from our apartment, but not when one of the diners is on crutches. still, i love how close it is — makes me proud in a way. and hey, even the AARP agrees that downtown durham is where it’s at these days. heh.
my sister and i shared two appetizers to start:
shrimp hush puppies with a red pepper sauce and basil foam
endive, pear, parsnip and bleu cheese salad
for an entrée, i was drawn to the grilled salmon because of its interesting accompaniments: fennel, beets, avocado, and plaintain! it was perfectly cooked and completely delicious.
i regret that i do NOT have a photo of dessert — just the menu. my brain registered it exactly as this photo depicts:

Fun! I think it’s totally okay to have two baby showers – even if the guest list did overlap. I think it’s probably pretty common when you don’t live in the same city as your relatives. You look so cute!
Can’t wait to see you REALLY pregnant too!
You look awesome!
Are you wearing Toms wedges? You look adorable in that outfit!
You look fabulous! I love your outfit–so classic, stylish, and comfy.
I love the photos from the baby shower, 2nd bedroom/crib, photos of you Josh and your parents. I’d love to get those photos for an album. I tried to save them to my computer but it woudn’t work and save as a jpeg unfortunately. I did get the photos from your friends blog though.
