the blogging “process”

January 16, 2016

Someone previously inquired as to my blogging process.  Surely, since I am just a tad bit systematic and (sometimes) obsessive in some other realms, I have some sort of blogging calendar, and organization scheme to it all, right?

Well . . . no.  I DID put together a calendar for the first time this year, and it is fun to have a list of topics to draw from.  However, I really tend to enjoy posting most when it’s just . . . spontaneous.  Off the cuff.  Related to what I am feeling passionate about at any given moment.  When I try to plan ahead too much, I start to see this whole thing as some sort of assignment or chore, and it loses its appeal.

Lately I have been writing posts in the evening.  If Josh is home on the earlier end, he often has a little time with Annabel while I get to sit and type something out.  Or if I’m flyin’ solo, I post while I’m waiting for him to get home.  Pre-kids, the morning was my writing time, but now it’s too crowded with running and other things since A&C are usually up by 6:30 or 6:45.

There are no drafts.  I do edit, usually mostly after hitting “publish” when I am scanning the newly-released post and find something grammatically unacceptable.

All that said, happy weekend!  C is sick again 🙁  — and breathing fast and hard, as usual.  I think he probably needs inhaled steroids.  I don’t know, I have a very hard time objectively evaluating my own kids and tend to panic.  But that’s a post for another night — and not a Friday.

I think Annbabel enjoyed her “snow” day

So sorry Cameron is sick again! Here’s hoping nobody else catches it.

ME TOO. Oddly he often seems to get sick with no one else impacted. Maybe RSV and the rest of us are totally immune?
