Day 149: Vac Feeling

August 11, 2020

Staycation or not, I definitely have that ‘vacation feeling’ going on. The beach helps. Not having too much to do helps. (I am sure I could think of productive ways to use this week, but honestly I feel like I need a break from . . . productivity).

I am still trying to complete my workouts (ONE WEEK LEFT IN 80 DAY OBSESSION OMG!!!) but have sleeping later and generally not sticking to as much of a ‘schedule’ other than a fairly regular nap during G’s nap 🙂

The beach (we went to Hollywood Beach – basically a ~30 min straight shot east from where we live) at around 9 AM on Sunday and it wasn’t crowded — we did start to see more people coming in by ~10:30 or so, and then we decided to pack it up.

Beach was followed by milkshakes & burgers because VACATION. The outing cost $40 total ($10 for beach parking & $30 for lunch). It was at least as pleasant as a day in the Keys likely would have been for 10-15x the price, not to mention other potential headaches and exposures.

During this week off, we are each taking ‘mommy days’ and ‘daddy days’ with each kid. Josh has C today and they are going to buy a fishing rod (catch & release) and possibly make a cherry pie.

I suspect we will fit in at least one more beach trip before the end of the vac. #staycation for the win.

Enjoy! It is nice to enjoy local treasures sometimes. The same happens to us- we live just outside Madison, WI which has an amazing downtown, lakes, state parks, gardens, etc etc all nearby….most of which we rarely use!! It’s like, WHY NOT?! Haha Usually just too busy and don’t often take staycations…when we take vacation we always feel we need to “get away” and explore new places, which is a shame in some ways.

I have a question/topic for the podcast! Any tips or thoughts on re-starting planning once you’ve ‘fallen off the wagon’. Have you ever gotten out of the planning habit for a while and struggled to re-start? Or tips for rebooting after a vacay?
