life Weekend

TIRED

September 27, 2020

Apparently I accidentally accumulated some kind of sleep debt over the past couple of weeks.

Or maybe aggressive habit change is taxing.

Or maybe LIIFT4 + 2 days running is a fatigue-inducing combination.

Or maybe I have COVID (probably not and hopefully not).

Whatever the reason, let it be known that after waking up at 5 am yesterday I took not one but TWO naps (one at 8:30 am, one at 2 pm), slept 10 hours last night — which required actually turning off my phone — and just took another nap at 2 pm today.

fully blame this carbolicious lunch for that last one, but also it was worth it.
(Note: this was Alison Roman’s pancake recipe and it was good, but an aware reader let me know about this and seriously, anyone who trash talks Marie Kondo is not getting any more attention from me. I’m sure there are other equally amazing pancakes out there.)

And no I am not pregnant (or at least I highly doubt it).

Going to attempt a workout now while G is still asleep. It will either revive me or sap my last drop of energy. Either way . . . there will be a rest day tomorrow.

That lunch looks so yummy 😋 It made me laugh that you mentioned pregnancy because it was the first thing that popped into my head 😃 hope your feeling more rested now

Do you get tired at the change of seasons in FL? I always feel more fatigued this time of year, and I think it’s because of the shorter days. Didn’t know if that would be a factor in FL too. I also worked 48 clinical hours plus 25 non clinical so that’s probably *my* problem this weekend. I slept 11 hours Friday night and then lay on the couch all morning like a beached whale, and then 9.5 hours last night and already feel soooo much better.

Hope you got the rest you needed and are ready to take on the world again this week!

I get tired this time of year too, and also had an eleven hour sleep this weekend. I’m looking forward to the end of daylight savings time!

Could be! The days are getting shorter even though it is NOT getting much cooler out . . . yet anyway!

Stella Parks has a great pancake recipe.
It sounds like the extra sleep led to some nice breaks during the weekend. Best wishes for the week – I can’t believe we’re at October!

I gotta say, I’m glad you shared this—I always wonder how others seem to have boundless energy and need very little sleep! I had two 9 hour nights this weekend and am feeling better. Last week I only worked out once, I just couldn’t get up early enough to do it.

Oh yum. Those pancakes look amazing. I’m following the GDM diet but because I’m on prednisone, I’ve extremely extremely sensitive to carbs so I have to eat about 1/2 the recommended carbs. So this carb-starved pregnant lady is envious! 😛 But I did have lots of treats leading up to 28 weeks because I knew I’d end up on the GDM diet… so I shouldn’t complain too much! I’ll just be enjoying lots of treats come December!

Maybe you were at a sleep deficit or maybe it’s related to your cycle, although I know you track that very closely. I am exhausted all the time but I’m slightly anemic and pregnant and chasing an energetic 2.5yo around so I blame it on that! Maybe you are mentally fatigued by something, too, like the state of the world?? 😛 Good for you for listening to your body and taking naps! I used to feel guilty about napping but now I just accept it as part of my weekend routine. I lay down when our son lays down and I fully enjoy the time spent reading/napping!

    I love a pancake lunch 🙂

I’m super tired lately too and I think it’s the fact that we’re 6 MONTHS into this Covid Crisis that has no end in sight, the constant worry about the elections, and the monotony of our days. I saw this on twitter recently explaining the 6 month mark. https://twitter.com/ProfAishaAhmad/status/1307697965260328961

As an aside, I really hate that as women anytime we mention feeling tired, we feel we have to fend off pregnancy questions. We all do it, and all have to do it, and it makes me tired.
