Thanksgiving 2020

November 27, 2020
time outdoors in the AM: playground, frisbee, etc. and beautiful weather.
our spread! Yes we dressed up. No I am not pictured because as usual I was behind the camera and setting up a full family photo with timer was beyond my capabilities
look at the excitement on his face
THIS TURNED OUT PERFECTLY (recipe. yes that is my long-abandoned cooking blog from the mid-aughts)
got one last wear out of last year’s Thanksgiving outfit!

Another Thanksgiving in the books. We cooked, we dressed up, we used cloth napkins, and we stayed home. It was actually a glorious day. I did accidentally nap through my husband’s giant Zoomsgiving, but got to 3-way FaceTime with my sister/niece + parents.

(Side note: the fact that Genevieve hasn’t gotten to hang out with her baby cousin in real life is sad, but I feel like they have gotten to know each other reasonably well via video!).

Today

I think we may go to the zoo. Should be reasonably pandemic-friendly. SO HAPPY that Josh and I both have these 4 days off. (He is working the New Years stretch, but we will have some family time around Christmas, too.)

And I guess I may actually do some (online) Black Friday shopping to pull the trigger on some of our Hanukkah gifts before we run out of time!!

Made Jamie Oliver’s chicken on your recommendation and it was fantastic! My husband couldn’t stop raving about it. So glad you had a nice holiday.

I love that you guys dressed up. I had not thought about doing that, but it’s a great idea. Glad you had a Happy Thanksgiving. We had a nice meal and a trip to the park as well. And we watched The Grinch :). Today we are going to decorate for Christmas.

We dressed up too. We are usually alone on Thanksgiving and I always insist on dressing up. Otherwise it is just a labor intensive dinner. It looks like a really lovely day.

We did not dress up but did have turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy and a cheesy cauliflower dish that was GD-friendly. So a very brown/monochromatic plate but so it goes. I did not make dessert but I will make some extra desserts in December when I can have carbs again! We FaceTimed with my family and I had zoom with girlfriends in the morning so that made the day a bit more festive. Hopefully next year will be a more normal year!
