All in all, the first day of 2021 was pretty great.
Despite having COVID and some nagging (but not acute or scary!) symptoms, honestly . . . it was as nice as a weekend day could be when you are all stuck in the house!

Activities for the Kids:
Bubbles (patio)
Chalk (patio)
Doing laps walking around our pool (Genevieve, don’t worry it’s fenced)
Minecraft (a lot of it)
FaceTiming various people
Movies / TV (a lot of it)
Lego
Mandatory 30 minute reading block daily 1pm – 1:30pm (must be done before Minecraft begins)
Chess or Pokeman or Monopoly (big kids w/ Josh while I hang out with G)
“Art Class” or “School” or “Hospital” led by Annabel (though G started up her own doctor’s office yesterday afternoon as well)
While it hasn’t been great, it also hasn’t been terrible. Camp Mommy was also turned into Camp Mommy & Daddy (since Josh is obviously sidelined/quarantined), which made things much more fun from my perspective! Obviously, he will be making up his missed call, but it has still been a nice benefit these past few days — especially since neither of us are entirely 100%, it’s nice to be sharing the work (and sometimes fun) of parenting in quarantine!
Random side note: I feel the need to revise my review of my AirPod Pros. Initially, I liked them. I now would say that I love them. Upon switching to the smallest tips, I find that they stay in beautifully and work for everything from chores to running. The noise cancelling is fantastic for treadmill use, and I find cleaning up the kitchen MUCH more pleasant with a podcast going on in my ears. They seamlessly connect to both my laptop and phone. I also always know where they are because they stay in their charging case plugged in on my desk. So, yeah. A+, Air Pod Pros. Possibly my favorite purchase of 2020.

I got AirPod Pros for Christmas and I’m loving them too!!! I had to work this past holiday week, and I’ve been using them while I work. I also LOVE the noise cancelling feature and how quickly and easily they connect. It’s starting to become a mental “trigger”- AirPods in = Deep work about to happen! 🙂 (But I like them for fun stuff, too.)
Thanks for the updated review of your AirPods! Like you, I have tiny ear canals so struggle to find headphones that fit. I’ve been wanting to get some for awhile but have held off out of concern they wouldn’t fit in my ears! I might gift some to myself for my 40th in Feb!
Glad your quarantine is going ok so far. Thank goodness for nice weather! It would be more challenging in Mn where the weather can be tough!
I’m excited to see Annabel’s planner spread! Sounds like a nice moment of connection.
I know we have to be cautious because of the unpredictability of Covid but yay that Josh is feeling good enough to do a workout!
And thanks for the AirPods review. My husband has an iPhone and loves listening to podcasts while doing chores around the house too, but he’s been resistant to getting them because of fear that they’ll fall out. I might just get them for his birthday.
I too am curious about A.’s spread. I started using a planner when I was about 9…it was a giveaway pocket calendar my mom got that she passed on to me. I used it as a diary, though, so I’m excited to see how she uses hers!
Hope y’all continue to feel better! As an activity, my kids really liked sticker books. A *might*be too old but I could see her helping the others.
glad to see you are making it as normal as possible and not freak out! good job to entertain the kids at home.
I also like to listen to podcast when I’m doing chores but sometimes I feel guilty about it as kids are around doing things and talk to me, and I’m distracted. do you get that feeling too?
yeah, I do know what you mean – but definitely don’t feel bad if they are all occupied with other things (a movie, or G will get REALLY involved in pretend play and basically not notice I’m there anymore!)
