COVID19 life Planners

Hello 2021 . . .

January 1, 2021

Beginning the new year with:

1- A new planner cover!!

Wonderland 222 Planner & Notebook in the Hobonichi A5 Kadan Cover

2- My own positive COVID-19 test

I mean, duh . . . everyone around me has it, though the kids remain asymptomatic and are now at 11 days past their positive test result. But I was still oddly surprised & emotional about it. I guess somehow I thought perhaps I was going to be the only one in this household to escape, despite having symptoms the past several days? Again — do not trust early tests. Both Josh and I tested negative even while symptomatic prior to testing positive.

test from 12/30 came back last night. HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ME.

At least our quarantines are now largely in sync.

I am still doing okay (feel the same or slightly better than I did several days ago when I tested negative, so hopefully I will be very lucky and avoid getting really sick — perhaps in part due to effects of the vaccine, even though I only received one dose).

3- A new guest appearance on The Mom Hour!!

Their first VOICES Ep of 2021!

I actually did an interview for them last January (here) about staying organized as a working mother, and Sarah Powers (one of the cohosts) emailed me and asked if I’d come on for another episode . . . but with a more 2021 vibe. As you might imagine, I was so excited to return!! Listen here or whoever you stream your podcasts.

(I love The Mom Hour myself and listen to almost every episode, so this is particularly thrilling!).

HAPPY NEW YEAR. I’ve never been so excited to start a fresh one! Here’s to more health & happiness in 2021.

Unfortunately, so very not surprised your test is now positive. I’m guessing you just didn’t have a high enough viral load in the early days of your infection, even for RT-PCR. I hope that it stays relatively mild for you, hope Josh feels better soon and am so glad your kids have stayed asymptomatic. Hang in there!!

Hope you all recover quickly and happy Mrs year!

I am curious about the second dose of the vaccine now that you have tested positive. Will you still receive it on schedule? Hope you all recover quickly!

I have to ask! I’ll do whatever they suggest.

I think current guidance is to still get the vaccine if you’ve had covid! My sister just had covid in November and got her vaccine this week.

Wishing you mild symptoms & a speedy recovery. Happy New Year!

I hope your case remains mild! Glad the kids have been asymptomatic so you haven’t had to play nurse for everyone!

Ugh! Unsurprising but still. I hope you have a great new year and stay healthy!

Like you and others I’m not surprised by the result but am still bummed for you all the same, and to receive it on NYE too! I hope that you remain only mildly sick and will improve very soon, and that Josh recovers very soon as well and y’all are able to return to normal.

    Happy New Year!

Sorry you are positive, too! I also tested negative on PCR and then positive two days later. I was surprised to read that PCR has a ~20% false negative rate in the first five days of symptoms! Hope you feel better soon. (I’m about 2.5 weeks in and can’t taste; smell is slightly coming back. Coughing persisting and my heart rate shoots up much more quickly, my Apple Watch keeps asking if I’m exercising!)

Ugh on the test results, and wishing you and Josh a speedy recovery. I’m excited to listen to your episode of the Mom Hour. I’ve only listed to an episode or two before, but I liked it!

So sorry about your positive test, Sarah! Hoping you continue to have a mild case and that this is behind you and your family soon. I listened to you on The Mom Hour this morning and it was the perfect way to begin the new year! Feeling inspired and happily searching for my new planner now, thank you!

Oh Sarah! I hope you continue to improve and the kids remain asymptomatic. I listened to your episode on The Mom Hour and these “crossovers” are always my favorite!

This will be a memorable New Year’s, at the very least! How is everyone holding up mentally? Fingers crossed that you all continue to feel okay, and recover soon.

I’m so confused! This may be a dumb question, but how can you and Josh test postive if you both already received the vaccine?

    • Reply Sarah Hart-Unger January 2, 2021 at 10:27 am

Vaccine is not 100% effective esp since we only got one dose so far and it was recent. However, it probably HAS helped our illnesses remain relatively mild.

I hope you recover quickly! Also thanks for reminding everyone not to trust the early tests. I know a family where the husband tested positive. The rest of the family (mom and two teenagers) then got tests that were all negative, so they decided they could continue on with life as normal since they had no symptoms and had negative tests. Including playing soccer games, going to the mall, having friends over to their house without disclosing the dad had been Covid-positive (it was 14 days after the dad had gotten his positive results, but I know I would have appreciated a heads up if I was the mother of that friend). Ugh!!!! This is why this thing is never going to end.
