I decided I would track my time this week! While I do not do this continuously (Laura does – it always amazes me), I like to do it from time to time, to sort of take stock & do a periodic assessment of how my days/hours/minutes are being filled. This week contains a day of call (DONE), a day off (Thurs – my bday!), AND a solo parenting weekend, so I figured it would be a good week as any to pay some closer attention.
Yesterday I worked ~10.5 hours, which was a bit more than I would have preferred, but I survived.
I also know I took ~15K steps, spent 90 minutes of Screen Time on my phone, and slept 7.75 hours. Which didn’t even feel like enough . . .
But will be interesting to see if any new insights arise from this (relatively busy) week.
ALSO: We went to my niece and nephew’s B’Nai Mitzvah (= Bat Mitzvah + Bar Mitzvah combined, I didn’t know either). AND we had the most normal-feeling family gatherings! It was so nice.
I had to buy them actual nice clothing:
I have more to share (including: workout stuff, more superficial things, bedtime progress, etc) but my Peloton strength workout beckons. More tomorrow!

Hope C’s ear is on the mend
Ear is completely better!! 🙂
WONDERFUL! I was wondering too.
Congrats on being done with call! Do you mind sharing where you got the girls’ jelly sandals/what brand?
Mini Melissa 🙂
I’m also reading effortless… Nothing I didn’t know but good to read anyway!
That is just such a great picture of your kids! I love the dresses!!
Cute pic of the kids! I went to a Mother’s Blessing on Sunday (kind of a mother-centered alternative to a baby shower – cool idea!) and it was SO WONDERFUL TO SEE PEOPLE IN PERSON. We sat outside and it was just lovely to see people in person. When I came downstairs before heading out – in jeans and a striped top so very casual – my son said, “Mommy, what are you wearing???” I have lived in workout clothes and leggings since the beginning of the pandemic so besides the baby’s baptism last month, he hasn’t seen me in ‘real’ clothes much. I’m glad you were able to see family and celebrate a big milestone. That is the stuff I missed more than anything! Take-out is just fine for us in this stage of life so I do not miss going to restaurants. But seeing friends and family – that is what I really missed. We are finally introducing Will to people and it’s kind of bananas that he’s already almost 6 months when people are meeting him for the first time! Although I’d argue this is a more fun age for them to meet him as he’s very smiley and happy to be held by anyone (he was not happy to be held by anyone as an infant outside of the first 2-3 weeks – he’d even scream for my husband as he only wanted mom).
Two things.
1) I love that you eat meals so quickly. I wolf down my food at an alarmingly fast rate. I try to be mindful, try to slow down and savour…but I always revert to eating so fast. Maybe over a decade of parenting has taught me I need to eat fast or risk not eating at all?
2) And anyone that has a line item that says “15 min Desk nap” is my hero. Made me both laugh, and smile in understanding/appreciation.
I remember when I was 7 months pregnant and finishing up my Master’s degree, the lab I worked in had this isolation booth for olfactory experiments. It was pitch black and warm. Over lunchtime I would lay down on the floor (no cushions – couldn’t do that now!) and doze for 15 blissful minutes.
I often eat standing up and I do eat very quickly! I know perhaps it’s against what people would recommend for both health and ‘savoring’ of food, but honestly it’s just my natural speed unless I’m sitting with someone actively engaged in conversation while eating.
And yes that desk nap was ESSENTIAL 🙂
What is the habits course???
I’m finishing up this Wellcoaches certification b/c we are launching a coaching study for the residents. This is part of the course. (I do not find it particularly earthshattering but it’s requirement for the certification!)
And by saying I “love” that you eat meals so quickly, I meant I just relate and it helps me feel less concerned about my own speeding eating habits!
And, it’s true…when I go out with other adults for supper, I eat much slower than I do at home.
Do you have a link for the dresses??
