Thankfully the kids are still asleep (it’s 7 as I’m posting this!). AND I slept over 8 hours last night and already got to read, do my Headspace, etc. So I would consider this a very good start. Happy Saturday!
Yesterday was interesting . . . but we survived.
Here are the kids huddled in the back of the (very large) graduation venue with devices. It was bring them OR miss graduation and the latter really wasn’t an option.
They were generally good and I was only a little bit distracted.
Graduation was emotional and I cried (while presenting the first one — then I pulled myself together)! I wish I could show a photo of our 8 graduates but that feels not quite right so you will just have to trust me when I say they looked absolutely beautiful.
It was a somewhat stressful day but not as bad as it could have been.
TODAY
Hopefully run if Josh does not have to go straight to hospital
Something outside (pool? playground?) though looks like it may storm later. HELLO FL SUMMER. (sigh)
Record a BLP ep during iPad time
Chores: Laundry x 2 + organize SHOES in our closet (ie get rid of old ones – long overdue task)
Make list of what A needs for camp Monday
We have a babysitter coming tonight b/c I am supposed to go to a graduation gathering (sadly Josh cannot come b/c it’s too far from the hospitals he covers and he is on call). (Things feel so normal that it’s actually a bit bizarre!?)

Devices for the win! So glad things worked out.
I hope you get the chance to really soak in the success of this graduation and all that entails regarding the work you’ve put in to the program these last few years + the exciting future outlook.
And three cheers for things feeling bizarrely normal.
Love the return to some normalcy!
Congratulations to the graduates. I always felt like graduating from residency was more of a milestone than graduating from medical school. And Congratulations to you for graduating your first class!!!
And a big high five to A, C and G for rising to the occasion (so what if screens were involved)!
I’m glad the kids slept in on Sunday and that you got 8 hours of sleep. That can really make a world of difference. Our baby has been up at 5:30 the last 2 days so my sleep has not been great recently. It’s tough to be too frustrated when he smiles and coos at me after nursing, though! But dang I could use another 30-45 minutes of sleep!
Congrats on the first round of graduates! That is so exciting and I can see how it’s emotional for you as the program director!
We had a pretty “normalish” weekend here. My aunt and uncle came over on Saturday morning to meet our baby and then some of my husband’s extended family came over on Sunday afternoon to meet the baby. Will is hitting the stranger danger phase which I feel is probably worse that average since he’s barely seen anyone besides his immediate family during his first 6 months of life. Thankfully he does great at daycare and never cries at drop off. But when family comes over and tries to hold him, he cries and it’s the ‘I’m terrified mom!’ kind of cry. 🙁
