I got no calls overnight, which I am fairly shocked about because the day was quite busy.
I still struggled with some call anxiety, I have to admit. BUT I did have more help than usual, which was truly appreciated. And as stated before, I feel SO much better about this broken-up version! SO hoping I could convince one person to split things up with me . . .
In other news,
Packers are coming today!! I am 100% not ready in the least, but this morning I will throw at least some essentials in a ‘go bag’ that will not be packed. PLUS the coffee maker, as it is a very very essential item that we will perish without.
I was thinking about it, and I really am excited for the clean slate of moving. Gretchen Rubin has noted the phenomena (her post here) where a fresh start/change can really set the stage for new habits to form.
Habits I would like to work on related to the house include: implementing a daily cleanup (with less stress on the mess the rest of the time!), better bedtime routines for the kids and myself (long battle), and generally having less clutter (ie, habit of regular decluttering, less buying what we don’t need). Oh, and I would like to delve into using up our pantry/freezer contents more thoughtfully, too!
Obviously all of these will not instantly shift at once, but the clean slate may help. I’m also going to restart the Organize 365 100 day program — I think the fresh surroundings will be the motivation I need to bring excitement to the project!
For now though I should probably focus on surviving the next 48 hours. TRULY CANNOT WAIT to spend all day Friday setting up our new house (I’m off from work that day).
Bye rental! It’s been real!

Yay! You might want to extend that essentials bags to the stuff you will need for the first two weeks…(even with parents taking time off work it took us forever to unpack…)
Make sure the coffeemaker includes coffee, filters/pods, sugar, milk and mugs. Otherwise you will have a coffeemaker and no coffee 🙁
Yes! The first work day in our new house, I showed up to my office with my coffee in a solo cup. I just could not find anything else—and this was after a few days of aggressively unpacking.
Good luck! When I was relocated down to Charlotte for a job, it included the benefit of the packers packing everything up. It was amazing to see how fast the process was. Granted, it was just me in a 1-bedroom condo but still. They had everything packed up in half a day. It was kind of jarring to go from a normal condo in the morning to everything packed by mid-day!
Good luck! Here is to fresh starts and new routines. I love it! Let us know how it all goes!
Good luck! Know that there will be some unpacking/setting up that may take weeks to be totally done. As long as the kitchen is mostly set up and you have a place to sleep you’ll be good.
i am still delusional and think it will be shorter, but I guess we will see!!!!
This is amazing! I hope it goes smoothly. I love following along and reading your posts.
