Birthdays + More!

December 8, 2022

Josh turns 48 today (!!!!!)

Apparently Genevieve wished him happy birthday first- at 1 AM when she got up to drink water and found him asleep on the couch (not for any bad reason, just because he passes out in random places quite frequently, ha).

And I think he enjoyed his birthday gift from me — a sci fi book subscription from The Strand. I mean who doesn’t love a well-curated book subscription!?

ANNNNNNND because December is just like that, I spent his birthday morning creating this poster for G. I admittedly resented this assignment but softened as I was doing it because it was actually really fun to make in the end.

viva through the ages!

(I spent Tuesday’s lunch break on the Walgreens photo app, made good use of the search feature in Google photos, and grabbed washi tape and Sharpies to finish this morning. We will be celebrating in her classroom today — and A & C get pulled out of class to come too!)

THEN today is a full on whirlwind of kid dentist appointments, gymnastics, a soccer game, and hopefully some time to celebrate Josh more fully!

ANNNNND, the talk/workshop went well I think!!! My friend send me this photo – I look quite serious but I think my tone was lighter than this pic looks. The event was at a conference and I definitely think I managed to get everyone talking and connecting – which was mostly the point šŸ™‚

It was stressful but fun and I hope I can continue doing it!

Happy Birthday Josh and G! That post is so cute. My oldest would love something like that. Our kids get the cutest cards from their teachers at school and they often include photos. I keep the cards in their baby books as they are great keepsakes.

Action shots during speeches never seem to be flattering! I have some awkward photos of me during maid of honor speeches. Yesterday I had presentation training with an outside consultant my company hires. She had us give a 2 minute speech – turns out she recorded us and then we had to watch it. It was incredibly painful to watch myself but very helpful, too. So I can see why she does it but wow it was cringe-worthy for me! And we did not know we were going to be giving pitches so you had to do something on the spot. Which is fine since I do a lot of client calls/etc. But 2 minutes is sooo little time so it was hard to come up with something that would fit that time block.

Ooh, I think that subscription would make a great gift for my husband, too! Thanks for mentioning it!

I’m glad the talk went well!

I made 2 big posters like that for my husband’s 40th birthday last year and I LOVED it when it was done, but choosing all the pictures… not so much. One of those things that is part fun (a trip down memory lane!) and part hassle. I sort of feel the same way about picking pics for our Christmas card. Just so many options, and then sometimes the thumbnail is kind of small when you’re trying to look through large bunches of them, and you have a couple similar options where you took the same photo repeatedly, and are you accidentally picking the one to print with the grimace- looking smile or half blink, or is it the good one with the real smile?? šŸ˜†

Congratulations on the presentation! Iā€™m a lurker but longtime follower of BOBW and forever supporter of BLP. I also just purchased a Hobonichi Cousin in a late night pity party/therapy shopping session. Then I proceeded to buy washi tape and complimenting pens at JetPens. Pens for the Hobonichi, washi tape just to label my sons daycare food containers, ha!!

Anyway, Iā€™m thrilled to see where you are going. You deserve it.

The poster looks great! Honestly for me, it is the hassle of getting pictures printed to do these types of projects. There is not many places that make it easy for me to print photos. I have a project to do for my mom that involves photos and need to get on that!
    Congratulations on your talk!
