Hooray for Ski School

December 24, 2022

Everyone went to school yesterday – A&C for a full day (9:30 – 3:30) and the rest of us for the afternoon. Everyone did well — A&C were proud that they ‘moved up a level’ and G proclaimed that she loved snow and was never cold until the very end when we were inside removing our ski boots and then she had a full on tantrum. (I think she just got tired + hangry). All 3 are excited to head out today.

G waiting for her ski school playing on a playground buried in snow

Seriously Genevieve look to the weather the most naturally of all of us which is pretty funny since this is really her first time seeing snow.

We decided to hang out and grab some easy prep essentials from the little store on site to make dinner in our little condo kitchen. No one complained 🙂

Ski lessons for Josh and me consisted of starting with the little kid hill and ultimately moving to our first ‘real’ green run. I was super happy to have muscle memory from my (MUCH) younger days, thank goodness. And I think because I did most of my skiing in my youth the whole experience kind of made me feel like I was 12, in a good way.

Today we have another lesson (morning) while G has a morning halfway and A/C have a full day.

Oh and finally – I wasn’t horribly cold. Yay!! My hands got numb by the end despite liners + pretty hefty mitts but today I will add hand warmers . . .

Hopefully we will manage to take some actual ski pix today 🙂 Happy holidays and merry Christmas Eve to those who celebrate!

PS: I finished Carrie Soto is Back. I liked it but did not love it.

So fun! Love seeing your updates. I haven’t read Carrie Soto, but I do enjoy TJR’s books. Lu just finished an older one (2016, I think) called After I Do, and I thought it was great! It’s an honest look at marriage from lots of perspectives. It’s a compelling story, and made me consider how I can show up better in my own marriage. I feel like actual marriage/relationship books can be a combination of dry/preachy/formulaic, but this novel made me think while also being entertained.

I hope the rest of your trip goes well!

This is sounding like such a wonderful vacation! I’m loving these pics, and the fact that G feels some affinity to the (extreme) cold and snow.

I’m spending the holidays working on potty training and estate planning (I *think* I’m finally done with *our part* of the estate planning, kind’ve technically meeting my goal to finish it in 2022. I feel so good about the accomplishment that I don’t feel even the tiniest bit bad that estate planning was originally a 2020 goal…) But I’m not complaining about my holiday plans! I’m looking forward to my 10 day vacation in February – four days in Panama with my husband, followed by six days in Costa Rica on a yoga retreat. Just thinking about it makes me giddy with excitement.

Had such a great day today. I’m having a hard time wanting to go anywhere else for a family ski experience! It really is great.
