MY CAR IS CLEAN

Nothing like knocking off a yearly goal before the year even starts! Josh took my car to be cleaned yesterday. Just LOOK at that interior:

ahhhhhhhh

(You can also note the lack of winter outside. It was >70F on my morning run yesterday, hot!)

Gymnastics Camp Productivity

The 3 days of gymnastics camp my kids are finishing up today worked out so well. They really enjoyed it and were entertained, and I have loved having some extra time and space to get %(*#$& done, recover from our trip, and really get things set for the new year / our next season.

Yesterday I did some blog housework, including:

  • a new about page (overdue, now just need to get that new headshot . . . it got rescheduled as the photographer had COVID)!
  • ski trip gear page – as requested — things we used that worked out well

I also did some BLPA (Best Laid Plans Academy) prep work.

I am putting it into the universe that this weekend I am going to get my overhead camera set up to attempt some videos of planners in action. (Not unlike the car cleaning, I may need some support for this one. But also: how hard can it be?!)

On an entirely unrelated note:

Do you have a favorite underwear brand? I generally go with Natori but am interested in what else is out there!

Uniqlo Airism (and Marks and Spencer but that’s of no use to you).

Look at that beautiful car! Such a good feeling. I think I’ll do that this weekend too. (I don’t know if you’ve ever said, but is New Year’s your favorite holiday? It is for me!)

For underwear I’ve been really happy with Third Love — definitely recommend.

    Third love!!

  • Reply Gillian December 30, 2022 at 7:22 am

Everlane for underwear (I like the cotton bikini), Third Love for Bras.

Gap body for panties, negative for bras (only bought during their once a year sale) but am actually starting to like cos.negative was great quality for a while but the newer cuts aren’t as forgiving to middle age.

Natori 100%. I go with the same style year after year- bikini black. (I think this was the brand Anna mentioned in Becoming Anna which made me laugh!!!)

I love having a nice clean car! (So rare, since it is always full of Kid Detritus.) (You and I have the same vehicle, I think!) Now I am off to check out your ski gear recs…

      Highlander hybrid, I love it!!!!

My car is never ever clean but Ben got me the outdoor vacuum his dad has that I coveted after I borrowed in over Thanksgiving, so there is HOPE. If I can just keep it cleaned between car washes, I have a chance (and we don’t even EAT in the car— it’’s just slush and salt and mud and YUCK.)

    Gap and lululemon

Ahhhhhhhh – a clean car! It always feels so refreshing!

Fan of Soma’s underwear (Vanishing Edge). The silicone grippy bit keeps them in place. I hate having underwear ride up in places where it doesn’t belong. On a related note, one of my permanent habit changes from Covid is switching to wireless bras. I used to be a die hard wired bra devotee to keep things lifted and supported – – – but now I just can’t go back to the discomfort of the wire pressing into my skin all day long.

Am regretting that I didn’t sign up for BLPA – are you running a wait list or sign-up-for-the-next-round list?

    • Reply Sarah Hart-Unger December 30, 2022 at 9:56 am

Signups for the next round will be in Feb and I will offer to the waitlist first! Go to https://theshubox.com/BLPA (or the BLPA tab on the site) and you can add yourself to the list!

Did you see 10 Things to Tell You is Back? In her favorite things episode she talked about a “canvas lamp” – it sounds like something you could use for overhead shots of things like working in your planner. I can’t remember if she mentioned this in her main 10 fave things or the bonus one she shared, though. I’m so glad she’s back as I love her podcast!

So glad that camp went so well for the kids and gave you some time to get stuff done!! That is the best feeling!

I have an overhead holder I bought like a year ago and never set up!! (Fear of technology / assembly is a thing sometimes for me!)

    • Reply Sarah Hart-Unger December 30, 2022 at 11:43 am

And yes I was so excited she returned!!

lululemon underwear! I have slowly replaced all of my old weird pairs that give major panty lines and it is so nice to not have days when I have to wear not underwear that’s not perfect!

    • Reply Sarah Hart-Unger December 30, 2022 at 6:07 pm

      Ordered some lulu to try!!

  • Reply Lis December 30, 2022 at 3:50 pm

I found some Calvin Klein ones at Costco that I have absolutely loved. And in general, GAP brand has always lasted a good number of years.

  • Reply Kate W December 30, 2022 at 3:51 pm

Just cleaned out my underwear drawer and replacing with only my favs after I tried a bunch out this year. My favs are the Tommy John Air Briefs or Cool Cotton Briefs (no lines), Pact (organic cotton), and Arden “granny style” – from Target.

If you are looking for ones best for running – highly recommend the air briefs or under armor (but size down). No panty lines!

Been a listener for about 18 months on your podcast, but making a note to read your blog more. And now just made my first comment! 🙂

I suggest checking out Boody for underwear, active wear and lounge wear – lovely fabrics and super comfy

    • Reply Sarah Hart-Unger December 30, 2022 at 7:28 pm

oooh their lounge stuff looks divine

  • Reply YS December 30, 2022 at 9:03 pm

Aeries for underwear. The no-see ones. Absolutely comfortable and beautiful too. Some may poo poo the second attribute but I like pretty underwear, not just functional.

    • Reply YS December 30, 2022 at 9:05 pm

      Oh the no-see cheekies.

      • Reply Sarah Hart-Unger December 31, 2022 at 5:42 am

        Thank you!!

Knix bras are amazing! And they have underwear too

  • Reply Kersti December 30, 2022 at 11:05 pm

Lululemon has really nice underwear … can be worn for workout or just daily wear.

I love, love, love checking off a “goal” before the new year. I’ve started working on some of mine that will span the month/year, so I can’t cross anything off for 2023, but I have made some progress.

Our car is a cesspool of muddy footprints and a random assortment of crumbs and twigs. I picked up some family at the airport yesterday and as I was waiting for them to get to our car I was madly scrambling to wipe kid crumbs out of the backseat on to the sidewalk. We have had it professionally cleaned several times, and the relief is palpable (and then we’ll have a rain storm and the kids will get into the car with muddy shoes and we’re right back where we started; sigh).

Congrats on getting in the NYT with your podcast!

Thanks it was such a fun surprise!

  • Reply Tara December 31, 2022 at 9:16 pm

Neiwei makes both great underwear and bras. They’re also mostly one size fits all and I can say attest to the fact that I wore them throughout pregnancy!

  • Reply Erica Sparky January 2, 2023 at 4:19 pm

I’ve recently been getting mine from Pact. Organic cotton, available at Whole Foods (LOL). I was always Natori fan but wanted to get more cotton and sustainable clothing.
