Quite a Month!
February was truly a lot of fun.
And while I didn’t meet all of my goals (books page, organizing projects, and photobook continue to languish; BLPA dates are set but location is between 3 hotels) — I would call it a highly successful month.
I read some great books, raced a half marathon, celebrated C’s birthday, saw old friends, hung out with newer friends, and enjoyed a date night AND a date weekend. We finished up soccer (yay) and our household routines seem to be working decently well. I am feeling grateful and happy about how life is going right now with my hybrid clinical/creative career. I have a lot of balls in the air but so far I feel like the important ones are staying up AND I’m enjoying the process.
Proud moment:
I had nothing to do with this (seriously) but Annabel volunteered to lead a workshop on PLANNING at school!!!! Apparently the kids really liked it and the teacher provided worksheets so they could practice planning the week + day together. My heart seriously is overflowing thinking about this. I wasn’t there (was seeing pts) but the teacher sent me a video. Here’s a screenshot:
Happy moment:
In other news, A & G watched Clueless with me (C was watching some sci fi movie with Josh):
One might not think this 90s classic would hold the attention of a 5 year old, but apparently it did. (I think the more mature references went straight over her head and she was there for the fashion + soundtrack). I have to say this one aged WELL and remains one of my absolute favorite movies ever. A gave it 4.7 stars out of 5 and also noted that she wanted most of Cher’s outfits.
Tomorrow it’s MARCH (already). Back with some new goals and maybe even a realistic plan for my organizing ventures since vaguely sticking it on the list doesn’t seem to be working . . .

What a great month of highlights. I can see wanting to have the items that didn’t get done, maybe more segmented into smaller steps to fit them in while you are still ramping up your business. You packed a lot in and maybe a small win in those areas would be enough at this stage?
That is adorable, Annabel is so sweet!
I had a busy month but managed to roll with the disruption of strikes, etc. I got most of the big stuff done, and lots of the small stuff, so getting there. But I’m going into March feeling pretty worn out. I think normal Northern winter blues + a need for a break from the weekly travel and a time to refocus. I have teaching this week, and then next Wednesday, and then I’m home for 11 days running. Just trying to make it through until then.
OMG – that is so cute with A. I love Clueless too. βAs if!β Did you see the Clueless commercial during the Super Bowl?
YES!!! LOVED it!!
You had a really awesome month! I love that A taught her classmates how to plan. Not only does she look like you, she seems to have your tendencies as well! So sweet!
February was a challenging month for us… There were some highs, like hosting my friend for a weekend and celebrating my birthday, but Phil traveled the first week and then I traveled the next 2 weeks, and picked up a nagging cold that won’t seem to go away so the month felt like a bit of a slog? But at least it’s a short one and it’s over after today. But the month confirmed that traveling once/month needs to be my limit at least in this stage of parenting and if I have to travel twice in a month, back-to-back weeks is not optimal.
Love A’s rating of Clueless and the outfits! It is my all-time favorite movie and I can’t wait for my 5yo daughter to have the attention span to watch it. (Has she seen Now and Then yet?!)
When you write about these experiences I can see a future preview of my three (8yo boy, 5yo girl, 18mo boy) — similar to how you have described reading Lag Liv’s entries!
I just watched Clueless with my 13 year old (we’ve been going through lots of the classics – Mean Girls, Legally Blonde, She’s the Man etc) and she was kind of meh on it!!! About 70% through she was like “uhhh…. what’s this movie…. about??” hahahaha π She LOVED!!!!! Legally Blonde most of all of them so far and has now watched that one about 10 times.
I love Clueless! Such a great one. I wonder if my 6 yo would like it. It was really fun showing her The Parent Trap and Homeward Bound (sob, so good). I’m also excited to introduce her to Now and Then at some point. My 4 yo is still boycotting any movies that aren’t cartoons π
February was a very full month for me: a girls weekend away with my high school friends, 3 ski weekends (we live in CO so this is pretty typical in the winter!), 3 bouts of strep in the house ughhhh. Next month we have a warm weather trip to look forward to after wrapping up ski season.
Happy (almost March)! I know you talked about your planner on the top there, but can’t remember right now. Is that a monthly that you use for goal keeping/record keeping? I love the idea of that and maybe a little deep dive would be warranted.
LOVE Clueless! Youβve inspired me to try it with my 5yo (she loves dressing up so would likely have multiple costume changes during the movie!) And GO Annabelle with her planning workshop!
What a great month, so glad it was a good one for you π February was pretty hard in our household, we moved house (the worst- hopefully the last time now for a few decades!), illness in the house x 2, work super busy causing stress. But March promises to be a great month, with family coming to stay with us, a mini break for my husband and I, and finally seeing Hamilton! Canβt wait π
Hamilton is so fun!! Enjoy!!!! It really was a good month — it helps that it’s our good weather season AND Josh didn’t have much call!!!
So, I’m working on this research study in which we ask adolescents about their cognition. One of the questions asks “I have to use written lists more often than other people my age so I will not forget things.” One of the men on the project asked me, “Do kids make lists?” I thought you might find that amusing given your own and your daughter’s proclivities. π
Hahahahahaha. Love that!
Clueless is my absolute favorite movie!
It’s SOOO good and timeless.
