En route

Currently en route to PHL with the kids. Josh dropped us at the airport and getting onto the flight was seamless. Each kid had their own bag to be responsible for, and that was that.

(Famous last words if we leave something on the plane, but hopefully not).

I paid $19 for in flight wi-fi because I am hoping to get some online work done:

  • email catchup
  • show notes post for Monday
  • brainstorm ideas for (live) podcast recording with Laura

I am hoping that by the time I land, most things will be done and I can spend much of the 4-day weekend unplugged. The more I am aware of how I spend my time the more I realize how entrepreneurial work can sort of . . expand to fill any space you allow it to fill. After all, one could always be doing something else.

I plan to do a financial reckoning of sorts this weekend as well — zoom out and look at the ins/outs of the business side, halfwy through the calendar year. When I went to 60% time at work, my hope was that I could earn an equivalent 40% through my creative work. I definitely feel like I am putting in the hours, but I am not sure I’m there yet. Maybe assuming that could happen in my very first year with this split was a bit optimistic. I feel like I am bringing value to both realms in somewhat of a synergistic way so I hope it continues to work out!

JULY GOALS: Nothing too crazy!

surely I can manage one video . . .

i’m reading the 4000 weeks and it’s really eye opening how our productivity/efficiency culture has shaped us, always for the later when later is too late.
focus on enjoy the holidays is one goal i’ll set for myself for the second half of the year.
enjoy PHL… i almost read it as PH. 🙂

Hi Sarah, I have enjoyed your BLP podcast and your BOBW with Laura. I love reading your blog and I’ve taken a keen interest in your thoughts on screen time.
I have a suggestion for a great teacher guest. There’s a podcast called Teaching To The TOP which features two teachers, Michelle Emmerson and Bridget Spackman. They have YouTube channels called pocketful of primary and the lettered classroom. They maybe worth looking at.
    Keep up the great content.
    Many thanks
