Chill Day Report

I really needed that. I “opted out” of a bunch of things this week, mostly kids’ activities: extra soccer training sessions (C), gymnastics (A/G), tap (G), jazz (A). Our school calendar is not in line with Broward County this week most of the activities were all ‘business as usual’ when we are decidedly in break mode.

(This also means that for most of the first week of January, my kids will be in school while the public schools are closed so we will have a bit of a slower ramp up with respect to actiivites – which is fine with me!)

AND, I let the kids basically just do screens for much of the day. Sometimes they watched / played stuff together, sometimes apart.

Normally I’m all about outings and outdoor time and screens AFTER lunch and . . . doing stuff. But I think we all needed this! I was able to finish my work + enjoy some planning time!

I am especially happy that I finally got my Essential Calendar filled out for Q1-2. (I initially did just the first part but it wasn’t enough of a “look ahead” for me, so now we have Dec – June up there!

(I am an affiliate for the Essential Calendar and I do have a link which gives you 10% off and me a small commission –> shop here; use code BESTLAIDPLANS . In the picture I also used their washi + sticky dots – love the washi for this especially as it will be easy to remove if plans change!)

A functional hallway indeed – a zoomed out 6 month view plus a weekly view (EC whiteboard I’ve had for a million years). LOVE IT.

I also got my annual goals into handwritten form in my goals notebook. I am excited for 2024!

I also made this for dinner. It did not disappoint. I do not do a lot of the weekday cooking but honestly that is something I miss a little bit.

kids loved this and hey, broccoli has lots of nutrients!

Things I Did Not Get Done

Not an affiliate, but I LOVE my calendar from Neuyear. Similar style as above (months aren’t split, which i love) but it runs the full year. I’ve got one for home and one for my desk at work for work items. One of my hacks at work is I have a post its with roleoccuring monthly/weekly/quarterly tasks. Once done, I move it to the next time it needs to occur. Could also do at home for things like furnace filter changes, etc.

So did you hang the essential calendar up with washi tape? I can’t tell from the pick? Is the washi tape used for the blocks of days marked off (for call and vacations I assume)? I am tempted to buy this but we have a calendar already that I make on Shutterfly with family photos so I wonder if it would be overkill to have a seasonal calendar and a monthly calendar. The boys love the family calendar so I can’t do away with that. Decisions, decisions…

yep!! Washi to hang (that I had at home) + thin washi (that they sell) to mark off stretches of time!

I’ve been doing a handmade version of the wall calendar which displays life 6 months into the future for years now! So funny that finally others have caught on to how useful it is.
