Back At It! Spring energy or something . . .

March 5, 2024

It’s a Monday (as I type this) and I’m feeling pretty motivated. Maybe it’s spring energy!? We had a packed weekend — there were activities for every kid plus a soccer tournament which means 3 games over the course of Fri / Sat / Sun. C’s poor team lost all 3 but at least they put up a good fight. We also managed to find a TV show that all 5 of us enjoy — Lessons in Chemistry on Apple TV (I’ve also read the book and really liked it!). Lately getting everyone to agree on something to watch has been . . . difficult, to say the least — so this was really nice.

Fast forward to today and the school is closed due to a power outage (!!!). I was incredibly grateful to have flexible childcare this morning, since it’s a full day of patients for me (and for Josh). I can see this week is going to be really disjointed with respect to work time for me (for the podcast / writing / etc) but still plenty to look forward to.

IN OTHER NEWS (organized from really really small to exciting + big):

1– I found a new protein source I like! 16 grams, not a lot of sugar, and I actually like it (!). I had it with this higher protein granola and blackberries, and BAM, close to 30 grams. I am very picky about Greek yogurt (texture issues) so was happy to like this.

2– Kelly had me on her podcast! I had Kelly on BLP way back and since then she has started her own podcast. Some hot topics discussed 🙂

3– BLP Live is officially coming back November — now that the link has gone out to prior attendees and newsletter subscribers I can include it here! Laura is joining me as cohost this time and we are already over half full (unless able to get more space, which is TBD) so definitely recommend signing up if you are ready to commit and want a slot!

I’ve been slowing working my way through Lessons in Chemisty. It’s not my husbands things so I have to find snippets of time to watch it. I think Brie Larson is excellent at Elizabeth Zott! We have been watching Killers of the Flower moon but it’s going to take us about 6 nights to watch it since we usually only watch 30 min of a show together and it’s so freaking long. We both read the book so wanted to watch the adaptation.

I so wish I could come to BLP live! I am traveling so much for work that I can’t justify another stretch of time away… I have 9 trips in the first half of the year so it’s going to be a ridiculous year for travel. In a couple of years it will be easier to travel for things I want to do, though. I’m happy to hear that registration is filling fast, though!!

So disappointing to not have access to every streaming service for all these shows hehe! I did like the book.

Thank you for high protein recs—so helpful!

Thanks for the protein granola. I will look for that. I’m always looking for easy ways to add protein.

I wish I had a TJ’s near me! That skyr seems to have fewer sugars than the stuff I can buy locally. I discovered skyr a few years ago and have never looked back. It’s so much better than even Greek yogurt.

Hello Sarah …. Newish daily reader here! I’m wondering… are you transitioning to less frequently blogging or is it something that organically varies? I feel like you used to blog daily, but that’s seems to have changed of late? Is it intentional? I miss the daily reading! Hope you are well.

Hi Jen! I aim for “most days” and sometimes get closer to daily than others! If I have something on my mind that is non-bloggable (currently the kid school stuff I wrote previously about without specifics) I feel less pulled to post.
