WE HAVE TO DISCUSS TS #12!!!!
This album made me so happy yesterday. I love a good Taylor Swift release day — they feel so special!! How many more of them will I get to experience? Hopefully a bunch!
I don’t actually know that ‘the critics’ think this set of songs is her best, but I absolutely basked in the glow of NEW TAYLOR and thoroughly enjoyed these tracks! I CANNOT get “Elizabeth Taylor” out of my head this morning (earworm). Taylor is clearly happy in this album and really, it’s quite heartwarming.

Fave tracks (because you all asked, okay not really but here you go anyway): Eldest Daughter, Cancelled, Elizabeth Taylor.
I can’t wait to follow Taylor through her next life stage (which her song lyrics suggest will be motherhood, since she wants to populate her block with Travis-looking children). Being 9 years older than she is, watching her life unfold provides the perfect amount of nostalgia for me. GO TAYLOR!
I have not bought movie tickets because I am not entirely sure I can sit next to Genevieve watching when there are so many male anatomy references. Ha! But I think I will watch it when it comes out on streaming.
EDITED: The release party movie is a clean version!! Just bought my tickets for today, yay (going with G; A declined and C is not a fan).
That is pretty much it.
Ha. I was too busy streaming to post yesterday! We have a chill weekend up ahead; Josh is on call. I am going to declutter my books (ie select a bunch to donate). Kids stayed up a bit too late last night and are still asleep.
Oh yes — I wanted to report back on the apple crumb cake!

I used this recipe that some of you recommended and it turned out soooo delicious. (Even on a plate with a fish on it. I need some more appropriate small breakfast plates!). Think: giant layer of crumb topping, then a layer of apples, then cake. Shown as part of a reasonably protein-filled breakfast since that bowl next to it contains cottage cheese 🙂

Nothing beats cake for breakfast! Looks delicious. 🙂
Will have to give the new TS album a listen!
My top 3 are very similar though Fate of Ophelia switched for Favourite Daughter. I adored the album. Much more the like my favourite albums of hers (1989, Red, Reputation) which I guess makes sense as Max Martin produced all those too.
I’ve not watched the movie but a friend went and said the one she went to had only clean words, like they switched check for male anatomy references in Father Figure. Not sure if it’s the same in America as it is in Australia!
I’m liking the new album, too! My eleven year old daughter listened to the whole thing before school yesterday and told me her favorite song was “Wood.” Once I heard the lyrics, though… 🫣 Happy for TS and honestly grateful to have this fun distraction from the world, which is increasingly bonkers!
hahahah oh no!!!!!!! that’s hilarious. A liked the album (her initial impression was “mid” but it grew on her!!!). I think G will have fun watching the movie! and YESSS to needing the distraction.
I haven’t listened to the new T Swift album yet! My daughter was pretty “meh” about it, but hopefully it will grow on her.
That apple crumble cake looks delicious!
Yes, all over TS12 and loving it. I also thoroughly enjoy making it a “thing”. Went to movie with kids and I loved it. My favs: Fate of Ophelia, Opalite, CANCELLED! (Which I liked more after movie). I hope she continues making music bc she is so talented in all aspects! Seems like she’d have a hard time not doing it even in next stage of life bc she’s so driven.
As an eldest daughter raising an eldest daughter, that one got me! Release day was so fun, and I’m still crossing my fingers that we get Rep vault tracks! I also loved Cancelled, and Fate of Ophelia is my current earworm.
haha SAME!!! Rep vault tracks would be so much fun. I feel like we are getting so many great tracks for a future all TS dance party.
I really love the new album — I like it much better than TTPD. Super fun. My 11yo daughter had her birthday party last night and made a playlist with a bunch of the clean songs on it, and we listened to the whole thing on repeat while we were getting ready yesterday! It’s just a really fun album and she seems happier and healthier than she has in the last few.
So fun! My favs are the same as Megan. They are all very very catchy.
I went with a friend who is an eldest daughter and our eldest daughters so that was kind of funny.
Definitely the distraction I was looking for these days.
At the TS movie, the mom sitting behind me with a gaggle of kids let out the loudest “Thank God” when “thighs” became “skies” and everyone laughed so hard!
