First, a few scenes from last night . . .

It was indeed a fairly chill night! I headed over to our neighbors for pizza and the ladies there laughed at my costume, so I will consider it a success. Then I mostly just . . . sat at a table and handed out candy, from ~6:30 – 9p!
G went around with A and her friends (proud of how nicely the 8th graders included her!) and then when she got a little tired Josh walked to pick her up and bring her home. C went to a friend’s house and had a blast. A came home around 10. I saw a bunch of people I knew and it was a warm ‘neighborhoody’ feeling. This was really nice given how politically divided this country feels right now — and honestly, our neighborhood is quite divided in that regard as well — but you wouldn’t have guessed that last night! We had plenty of kids come by and everyone was super nice. The teens were even like “wow, thank you!” when I told them to take 2 (and 3+ by the end of the night — I told them it was on “clearance”).
J + C left super early this morning for his XC race in Orlando, and I have enjoyed a peaceful morning here. I even tried my hand at morning pages. It took a full 30 minutes (using an A5 sized notebook; I do write fairly small!) so I am not entirely sure this fits into my current lifestyle but I will try it for a bit.
ON THE DOCKET FOR TODAY:
- Thinking through Q5 goals
- Rounds/consults (TBD, will get signout in a few minutes — call starts at 8!)
- November YNAB
- Print name tags for BLP Live (!) — which is NEXT WEEK, YAY!
- Start November newsletter (likely out Monday – though I wanted to include links to preorder bonuses and they are not 100% ready so . . . maybe will delay a few days until they are!)
Back tomorrow with some ideas about the new season! I’m excited to lots of blog posts today — the blog reading well usually dries up a bit over the weekend but . . . not in November. Let’s go, NaBloPoMo!

Our block met for a group kid photo. There were a couple of really cute little kid costumes like a 1yo in a penguin costume that was so dang cute! We have way way way too much candy which is not good for me as an abstainer!! 😬 It was not nice here – 40s and drizzling – but that did not slow our kids down. They went for 2 hours – 1 hour with each parent.
i forgot to mention: that was the VERY FIRST TIME since moving to FL that i’ve been COLD on halloween. it was GLORIOUS! i’m sorry it was rainy where you are 🙁
Your Halloween sounds fun! Our neighborhood used to be more like that, but we don’t get as many trick or treaters anymore (sad!) My daughter and her friends went to a different neighborhood where things are more lively.
I love your costume! You’re way more fun than me (I just wore my Halloween t shirt). And…. our weather! FINALLY!!!
Your outfit is super cute!
Ha! LOVE your costume.
This looks so fun! We had what I think of as a Norman Rockwell Halloween. Kids everywhere, parents with them. Just sweetness all around.
I am trying to remember if I have read along your blog during a previous NaBloPoMo or if I only know things from comment sections. But then that pop corn ball rings a bell.
Anyways happy to tag a long and getting to know you more.
My daughter went to her friends house, and fortunately she deigned to send me a photo of herself in her costume, otherwise I might not have seen how dang cute she looked. She went as princess zelda.
Super curious what blogs you enjoy most!
Harry Times, Grateful Kae, Optimistic Musings, Lagliv are some of my faves! I have read each of them for SO long and at this point all of the authors are also friends.
Not a regular mom, a cool mom! Love it!
Yep, I love your costume. Sounds like fun, super chill evening.
Hooray, so happy you’ll be joining NaBloPoMo again this year, Sarah. It’s always so much fun… as was your Halloween from what I can tell. Love your “cool mom look” 🙂
