Highlights & Key Happenings
- Best Laid Plans Live 3.0 went really well and truly was a ton of fun.
- Everyone recovered well from surgery. I think G even kind of loved the experience.
- Date night (finally!) — it had been quite a while!
- Really fun and relaxed Unger family Thanksgiving (and family bat mitzvah the week prior — so lots of great family time)
Accomplishments
- Getting my preorder bonuses out!!
- Doing a number of interviews for the book — I did at least 4 during the month of November, and have more coming up!
- I moved up to Level 1.5 at Club Pilates and definitely enjoy the workouts more. (It will probably take me until 2027 to get to level 2.0 because I think most studios want you to have 100 classes, but I am okay with that!)
- Booked a ton of 2026 travel, some of it using points (flight to Hawaii; resort for a weekend away with Josh in May). Lots of fun on the horizon, and while it did take work to figure it out, I’m excited about all of it!
- Tried morning pages (and I like it so far!)
- Posted most days in November for NaBloPoMo and enjoyed reading more posts than usual (and commenting a BIT more than usual. I am not an amazing commenter but I tried to add my voice whenever I had something to say!)
- Booked G’s bday party + sent invites
- Organized/decluttered G’s closet!
- Improved at my Taylor Swift Life of a Showgirl piano playing (and even played some at Thanksgiving while cousins sang).
Overall, I’m doing decently on my Q5 goals!
Misses
- Neighborhood hang has yet to be organized and I don’t see it coming to fruition just yet. Though maybe I can plan a little mini book launch celebration in January?
- FRIENDSGIVING FAIL!!!! We had such grand plans! I met my friend R in Miami Beach and we went to solidcore (hard but fun) and Josh was going to meet us with the kids . . . but something sharp was in the road and his tire blew and then the battery ran out while he was changing the tire (!), and since he was halfway between and not able to drive on the spare . . . well, we had to table the plans. I would say however this was somewhat lucky because no one was hurt, at least he didn’t end up on the highway with a blown tire (he was very close to getting on 95), and honestly it’s kind of miraculous that the battery died when he was driving because I drive that car 95% of the time. ALSO, I was able to pickup the kids (rescue squad!) while Josh waited for a jump. (Also we are already planning a redo in January. But I kind of had to laugh at the Best Laid Plans gone entirely awry because of a nail on the road!)
- Could I have done more to promote my book? Yes, but also no. I did what I had time to do. Onward!
Selected Media
- Movies: Wicked: For Good. I really liked it!!
- Books finished in Nov: The Academy by Elin Hildebrand + Shelby Cunningham, The Artist’s Way by Julia Cameron, and Culpability by Bruce Holsinger. That last one I LOVED, one of my favorites of the year. I’m at 45 for the year headed into December.
- Live: Middle school musical (Addams Family). This was pretty good!!
- Lot of holiday music already — 4 albums from this list (Justin Bieber, Michael Buble, Ariana Grande, Kacey Musgraves from the list so far).
- Not enough TV. I watched one or two episodes of Man On The Inside season 2 with the kids but only C was into it. I’m ready for Dance Moms New Era S2 (A is VERY EXCITED) and Emily In Paris S5 in December though!

It really was a good month overall — and I’m excited for December!

November was an amazing month for you! I’m going to miss all of the NaBloPo goodies. It’s such a fun time of year for blogging.
Amazon says that my copy of BLP will be delivered on Dec 16!!! Just a little over 2 weeks!!! I can’t wait to read it and to hear your interviews.
awww yay!!! I really hope you like it!!
Culpability just came up as ready on my library holds!
Ooh I hope you love it too!
Your book is so pretty! I can’t wait to get mine in the mail! Do you get a certain number to give to family and friends or are these copies you need to sign for a store or something?
November was a great month for you. Bummer about the tire and battery issue, though! I am glad no one was hurt! November was a pretty good month overall for me as well. I returned to the office at the beginning of the month. It’s been good to be back/see people. Now December is upon us and I am feeling overwhelmed by all that we have going on this week but things will calm after this first week. It’s extra busy as I am co-chairing the book fair at my kids’ school, my direct report is in town from Chicago, our youngest’s birthday, my company holiday party, and my book club end of year party where we vote on 2026 reads. Friday is sort of a shoudlless day but I wil need to do some party prep for the 5yo’s party on Saturday.
They sent me 24! I guess I need to send some to book influencers 🙂 Will work on that! Book fair sounds so fun even if busy!!! And how dare our kids have Dec bdays, haha . . .
Look at those pretty books! So exciting. I pre-ordered from the one Australian bookstore that said the books were available December 16 (all the others including Amazon Australia said January 21st!). Does this mean I’ll receive it before Christmas? I really hope so! I have time off from work over that time and hope to do lots of planning 🙂
What a great November! Well done getting so much achieved (and lots of fun in there too), and I love the attitude about how much book promotion you did.
I also had a very busy month, lots of work (peak season for an academic) and lots of family things, birthday party, camp, concert, date night etc. December will also be busy but it has time off and a trip so less work overall, which I’m ready for!
oh I really hope you get it in December!!!! Definitely report back and let me know!
I was thinking if the format “Highlights & Key Happenings-Accomplishments-Misses-Selected Media” is a format that you use for the majority of your monthly recaps and quintile-ly – if there is such a term – recaps, Dr. Sarah Hart-Unger. It turns out that it isn’t. Nevertheless, I do find this format to be suitable for this particular month.
I know that you always allow for the possibility that you do not reach 100 percent of all your monthly goals or your yearly goals. And I agree with you on that. What happens now, though, is that I’ll need to ask those people I know who claim “The majority of new-year’s resolutions fail” what they are referring to. I’m going to ask: “Is it the case that if one resolution out of a person’s 10 new-year’s resolutions for a year fail, you refer to this person’s new-year’s resolution as a failure? Or is it that if 6 out of the 10 new-year’s resolutions made by this person fail, you refer to this person’s new-year’s resolution as a failure? Or are you using some other ways to do the measurements?” That’s what I’ll ask them. In the meantime, I also think that there are exciting things ahead for you in December, Dr. Sarah Hart-Unger.
