It is 9:30 and the kids are still asleep. I don’t think there has been any compelling reason for them to leave Montana Time, so they just haven’t. Even without screen access, they have just stayed up late reading.
Let’s just say that Monday is going to be a rude awakening (LITERALLY).
3 Random pix from yesterday:
Pic #1: Nails

Pic #2: This is so January

I started the Iron Series over again because I wanted to track weights (and also because . . . I mean, isn’t it just more POETIC to start a program on January 1?). I really did not feel like working out yesterday but I did it at 6:30 pm; I had gotten some work (for myself) done in the morning instead of following my typical AM routine.
Whenever I actually manage to complete an evening workout I’m like “huh, that wasn’t the end of the world” but prior to starting it DOES actually feel world-ending. Interesting.
Pic #3: This graphic accurately depicts my attitude every single month (PMS). (Which I sort of have right now, by the way, but the NYE — New Year Energy — is having a fight with the hormonal downswing and mostly winning.)

SOOOOO, it’s Saturday. My only goals are really to:
- Teach BLP at Home!! (I offer a weekend session because I know for many it’s harder to get 2 hours uninterrupted on work days)
- Make dough for roll-out cookies (baking the actual cookies might be tonight, or tomorrow)
- Declutter 2 more ‘cubes’ of G’s books (we’re half done now!!!)
- Finish my Seasonal Planning (started yesterday using my own workbook/structure)
- Clear off my desk which is a no-fly zone right now.
Happy FIRST weekend of the year!!!

9:30 and still sleeping!! Wahoo! I feel for your rude awakening on Monday, though. That is the downside to the schedule creep over the holidays but you’ve had 2 weeks of bliss so a few rough mornings is worth it!
I like the idea of evening workouts but can’t see that happening until our youngest is, um, easier? The evenings are still a gong show. I could exercise when the youngest goes to bed at 7:30 but then I’d miss out on the last 30 min of Paul being awake which is usually pretty enjoyable. But maybe in 3 years evening workouts could work for me!
I think your nails look great!
I have NO intention of switching to evening workouts, but it’s nice to know that it’s a backup option should I miss the morning. (I was supposed to cook dinner and swapped it to take out and will cook tonight instead — so that was a sacrifice! BUT I had forgotten to thaw the meat so it made sense. Ha!)
Love the nails! The yellow is such a happy color. I wanted to recommend the app Hevy for tracking weight lifting workouts just in case you’d be interested. I’ve been using it for a couple of years and liked it enough that I actually paid for it. You can track as many workouts as you want with the free version though (just can’t make as many personalized routines). It tracks your reps and weights for every exercise you enter, and makes it easy to see progress over time.
Hee hee I remember the Rude Awakening of the first school day of the year so well. Now that the boys are both in the dorms I know that it still happens, but we don’t get to see it. It was very comical.
Back when I was younger I only worked out at night and now I can’t imagine doing that. It’s doable but it’s such a rough start and very prone to getting bumped if something else comes up.
The first day of school is going to be rough over here! My kids’ middle school starts at 7:30 and although my son has been keeping his regular wakeup time for the most part, my daughter has been staying up late reading until 1am and sleeping till 10 or 11! Sarah, you will love this—she and I talked about annual goals this year and she made a whole list (with lots of great ones like “learn to make 3 recipes from my new cookbook” and “save $200”). One of them was to read 24 books outside of school and I guess she’s highly motivated to meet that goal!
that is FANTASTIC – quite honestly most of my kids have NOT been quite as eager to set granular goals like that. Maybe it could still happen though!! It’s also super cool that she wants to read so much!!!!
Well, both the granular goal setting and the motivation to read outside school are fairly new but I will take it!
The yellow nail polish looks spectacular on you.
you are too kind! it is a fun color and felt very “BRIGHT NEW YEAR”-esque 🙂
I’d never pick yellow nail polish off the shelf, but I must say, seeing it on your hands makes it look really fun!
I wanted to let you know, I picked a planer (waiting for it to get here) and can’t wait to get planning (actually, I have started on scratch paper taking lessons from your book. Yay!).
That makes me so happy San!!
