We are now on day 4 of the trip and I have to say it’s been a pretty relaxing (chill) one so far — which is a good thing.
We had planned to ski two days in the Poconos but certain kids were asking to reduce that to 1 . . . so I am typing this from the lodge with A & G while C & J take a snowboarding lesson. (I guess they want to expand their winter sports repertoire- both have boarded before but not for quite some time. I just hope no one gets hurt!!).
On Tuesday we had a nice slow start — Josh went running; I walked with my mom and did some mat pilates with A. Once we were through puttering around and everyone was showered, we decided to be pure tourists and head to the Philadelphia Mint — C had thought it sounded cool. And then obviously it made sense to get cheesesteaks first!

The 6 of us (A stayed back and worked on homework/relaxed) shared these. DELICIOUS. (We were at Oh Brother chosen for proximity to the Mint AND seating).

The Mint was fun (I had been before, but I don’t think C has, or at least not in recent years). And on the way, we walked by this alley that was apparently a shortcut for Ben Franklin:

We headed back and I PASSED OUT for like 2 hours. Fun fact: I am SUPER allergic to something in my parents’ house and it is the only place I need to take things like Claritin. I took one and it worked but knocked me out like it was 10 Benadryl.
I woke up and we headed out to meet my sister / niece for dinner at a Chinese place that was a little too busy and out but was tasty anyway.

And then C / G spent way longer than you might imagine doing their favorite PHL activity:

We ended the evening watching The Pitt with my parents (stopping to discuss medical accuracy) and 8+ hours of sleep (YESSS).
Today has been even more relaxed, tomorrow we ski, and then on Friday we hit NYC – this trip is going too fast! Even as I had some last minute trepidations, I’m glad we went (and I think kids feel the same way!).

I hope you get some decent weather here. Right now Friday is looking rainy in NYC.
We don’t have too much outdoor planned and won’t be there for too long! Mostly visiting family. So it will be ok 😊
What a fun trip. We had a great time when we visited PHL years ago. We had the crazy experience of going to an Italian restaurant and having Sylvester Stallone walk in!! Phil would not let me take a picture of him, though. But other than that, we had a great time checking out the city. I loved Rittenhouse Square and the big market where Phil got a Philly cheesesteak sandwich.
I hope snow boarding went well! I have heard you can get better at snow boarding quicker but that it’s a tough go when you are learning (at least that’s what I was told when I worked at a ski lodge in CO during my college winter breaks!).
No pic? Noooooo! Come on Phil, those pix would have been priceless. Super cool anyway!!!
I know! He said we needed to give the man some privacy. He sat right behind us. We were making ‘are you kidding me/can you believe this!!’ facial expressions with other tables, though! He was in town promoting the movie, Creed.
