Debi Tirar Mas Fotos (as Bad Bunny has reminded us)! I don’t have enough from this trip so far, gotta get on that!

But things have been great! We left early (like, left our house at 4:30) and everything was pretty seamless, except that 1/3 of our checked luggage stayed an extra night in FLL. This was a bit harrowing, but eventually it did arrive (dropped at my parents’ door at 4 AM!) and I didn’t even have to reuse my daily contacts.

(Never checking my contact lenses again, though! Normally we don’t check at all, but with ski stuff packed we kind of had to.)

Sunday was a FULL day. We hung out with family (including my sister & niece M) until I headed out on an outing/quest with Laura — we (plus our two 8th grade daughters) visited the Dept of Note stationery store in Doylestown and I had a super lovely chat with the owner (who is the sister of a podcast listener, so she ‘knew’ me!).

The store DID NOT disappoint — there were so many cute things. I got a few Japanese notebooks, stickers, and things for the kids!

Then we headed to Laura’s to get in some recording, followed by a super-fun dinner with Kathleen who had taken the train up from DC to hang out!

Laura even made cosmos for the occasion and we had our own little mini Galentine’s party!! (I have zero makeup on and did not get to wear the slightly cuter outfit I had planned because . . . it was in our checked luggage, ha).

We went to Amada for tapas and it was fun and festive.

I am self-conscious about the defibrillator lump sticking out of my left side there — but it’s otherwise such cute pic so I’m sharing anyway. Side note: Kathleen is gorgeous with amazing hair!
posing in height order, haha

Josh came to pick me up and we all hung out chatting for a bit (Laura, her husband M, Kathleen, Josh, and one of Laura’s kids). It was a super fun night, and (bonus) the kids were all asleep when we got back at around 11. (Passed out with their lights still on, but asleep nonetheless.)

Yesterday included a walk with my mom (braving the cold — it wasn’t that bad!) and brunch with my sister/parents/M followed by a shopping trip with LANI!!!!! Lani is an amazing stylist and good friend and when she offered to take me to the KOP mall and help me with my shopping goals I felt guilty about leaving the family but also wanted to say YES.

In the end, A ended up coming with us and was super helpful (another opinionated voice of fashion reason is always welcome). She was also a trooper as we shopped for over 3 hours!

There’s the defibrillator again . . but still I did end up buying this outfit! The shorts are kind of a suede-like material, not sure if the picture shows that but they are more elevated than they maybe look here.
Add some jewelry and it works for a super comfy ‘night out’ look that works for our climate, hooray!

We ended up shopping mostly at Evereve, a store I hadn’t been to before, but Lani nailed it (I mean obviously, she’s a pro) with the right price point/quality level for some ‘going out in public in something nicer than jeans and a T-shirt’ pieces. AND I found some perfect-fitting faded black jeans (Rag & Bone – Peyton Midrise) at Bloomingdale’s at the end! I ended up with multiple things I can now wear for date nights or dinners out or nicer school events, which had been a major wardrobe gap.

(I totally overdrew my ‘allowance’ for about 2.5 months but it will all work out and was worth it to shop with Lani when the opportunity came up!)

After shopping we headed back to my parents’ for dinner (pizza + homemade soup) and here we are now.

OH, and I went through some boxes from my teen years and found an absolutely hilarious (but non-shareable, bc it’s very embarrassing) list of 41 goals I had for myself for my 11th grade year and gems like this one:

go FORDS

TODAY’S PLANS: Philadelphia tourism (Mint and maybe the Liberty Bell).

I wouldn’t even notice the defibrillator bulge and I had to really look closely to even detect it. So I think it’s something you notice way more than anyone else. And since you are so tiny, if someone saw the bulge in person, it would be very apparent that it’s a device, not a bulge of fat! That said, I know it’s tough to have something stand out. I hate how my right hand looks after having surgery but others look at my hands and see no difference.

It sounds like a wonderful trip so far! How great to go shopping with Lani, too! Evereve is based in Minneapolis! The company was founded by a former school teacher who was frustrated by the lack of clothes for professional adult women (I think that in the story… I heard her speak at a women’s conference).

FWIW I didn’t notice your defibrillator in either of those pictures until you pointed it out. I think it’s much more noticeable to you than it is to others.

Hahaha defibrillator dysmorphia! A new entry for the DSM. No, but in all seriousness I know what I am looking for and I know exactly where it is and I really didn’t notice it.

Oh come on you can’t say that about your goals and then NOT share. Glad you had fun!

some of them were fine, though kind of hilarious: “try harder at everything.” and one of them was something like “Don’t display intelligence”. and that wasn’t even the MOST embarrassing!!!! so, yeah — gonna leave that a vagueblog!!!

I just wanted to say I would never have noticed your defibrillator either! I’m glad you posted the pictures anyway because you look so cute in them! Also, that could be Annabel in the cheerleading picture 🙂

Echoing others – I did not notice the defibrillator! Sounds like an amazing trip so far. As a Philly suburbs native who worked at the KOP mall in high school and on college breaks, I am deeply jealous – I miss that Bloomingdales so much!

I didn’t notice it and actually had to go back and look to find it when you mentioned it. And I never once noticed it when you visited me except when you pointed it out.

SUCH A FUN TRIP! Love it all and jealous of the time with Laura and Kathleen!
