Theoretical Wednesday Routine

May 13, 2026

In an ideal world, every Wednesday I:

  • Empty my gmail inbox
  • Think through the weekend, plus the upcoming week and weekend a little bit
  • Finish with any pressing creative work deadlines for the week

This is sort of the ‘first half’ of my own current weekly review process; the rest is typically completed on Sundays.

In the actual world, half the time I am doing one of the following on Wednesday:

  • Traveling
  • Shuttling kids to random appointments for big chunks of the day (in addition to creative work ‘on stage’ or deadline-driven work which crunches the available time)
  • On call

Okay, maybe not half the time, but . . . frequently. The good news is that honestly, it’s okay! If I get behind, I have time to catch up on the weekends. It is not uncommon fro me to be drafting BOBW notes on Sunday (or even early on a Monday morning). None of those times are ‘wrong’ times for these things!

AND, I still want to try to stick to Wednesday admin blitzes if I can!! I only have 21 emails right now (I did a blitz on my MOHS day) and the weekend of May 22-24 is mostly all spoken for due to travel, so this is quite doable.

Tuesday Night:

YESSSS we had an ‘event’ last night – A had her annual gymnastics team banquet! It was bittersweet as her gym BFF is quitting. (Luckily, I think they will get to do acro at the dance studio together next year though!).

A herself has to make some tough choices about what she wants to do long term — luckily there are a ton of good options. I am continuing to wrap my head around the fact that next year is HIGH SCHOOL, and we (likely) only have 4 years left with her at home. And the last 4 went really fast, too.

Thankfully, we will have the memories to look back on — C took the cutest pic of Josh/me/A but will keep that private unless I get permission 🙂 Instead, I’ll share “me alone” below . . . look, you can baaaarely see the scar! It still hurts but I am less worried about permanent disfigurement. I feel lucky that it was right at the hairline vs like, on my nose or cheek. That would have been rough.

(I am really really going to wear hats outside from now on. I really don’t want any more of these.)

last minute dress decision – I actually forgot I had it until I went to decide what to put on. It worked though!

I also have a graduating 8th grader and it’s unreal that next year is high school! I think back on 4 years ago — 2022! That was practically last week!

Does A. stay in the same school for high school or is she starting a new school? We are very fortunate that our school is K-12 and our kids all started there with kindergarten / pre-k. I didn’t want the stress of finding new schools and having to start over!

same school, the one where she started in 7th 🙂 They add about 50 more kids in HS though!

aww thank you Nicole! It was a risky Final Sale buy but I really like it!!! When a bunch of short people say something worked well in the reviews, I tend to listen 🙂

I like the dress! And those gold shoes are reminding me I need to get shoes for the wedding… I keep putting it off though.
Yes- high school goes SO FAST. Tragically fast- although, every phase is a new adventure. I want to cling on to my daughter’s last year of high school, but I know college is fun too.

Side note, I think you’re a true autumn color season and would look great in that palette if you wanna look in that direction for your wardrobe refresh.
