Notes from the Air: Current Friday Rituals Working Right Now

August 29, 2026

Small but meaningful!

  • Starbucks morning. I head to a Starbucks that is on the way to my ‘satellite’ clinic (the different one where I go only on Fridays) and enjoy breakfast and write a blog post before work. Loving this. (I have no driving responsibilities on Friday other than myself, so there is no reason why not, and it’s been such a nice little thing to look forward to and enjoy each Friday morning.
  • Date night if we can. Saturday used to be our go-to and I’m sure there will still be weekends where we go out on Saturday (esp if we are meeting friends in Miami, or something like that), but Friday is low key and nice. We don’t really plan ahead all that much but both Josh and I seize the opportunity when a) no one’s on call and b) there are no kid events.
  • Generally lower key workout or rest day. Currently I’m lifting 4x/week and Pilates 2x/week, and attempting to make Monday and Thursday gym days, so Friday is a nice day to keep things a little lighter (and potentially even sleep an extra 30 minutes or so!). Since I’ll be away this weekend I did do my regular Empowered chest/biceps session but other weeks I have just taken a rest day or done some yoga.
  • Music podcast day! I listen to New Music Friday and choose my music picks for the week (this week: a group called Tiny Habits that I am LOVING and the new Alabama Shakes). And I usually listen to the Friday Pantsuit Politics on my little midday walk.

None of these are super ‘big’ things but they all add up to make Fridays feel kind of special. I also REALLY like working at the satellite clinic! It’s more spacious and just feels less chaotic. (Even my office is twice the size, and each patient room is, too!).

Flanagan’s (very SoFlo and low key) . . . we even watched some football. I worked on vocabulary: “safety” “scramble” are some new terms, lol
