Things I am looking forward to

October 26, 2021

Halloween. Not typically my favorite holiday, but the kids are so excited. Likely trick or treating both in our neighborhood and also some with Annabel’s BFF in hers. (We did trick or treat last year.)

The next four weekends. As I noted – somehow the next 4 weekends feature zero working parents! I am determined to make them great (we are both working a lot over the holidays – Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years – one of us is on for each. But I have to remember these 4 weeks ‘count’ too!)

Weather. It’s such a relief to be out of summer. Don’t get me wrong – this is still FL. Today’s predicted high is 90 (yuck). But the lows up ahead are even dipping into the 60s. AHHHHH! Thrilling! And apparently, hurricane season in FL is “probably over“.

Kids’ vaccines. Hopefully soon!? The lead up has felt endless but hopefully things are finally moving. (G will not meet the criteria for this round but . . hopefully the next). On that note, all 3 are getting flu shots today. Fun times . . . but glad for them to have the protection.

Filling out my 2022 PowerSheets and Hobonichi 🙂 Because of course. I already started playing with the PowerSheets actually, because there are SO many prep pages leading up to January and I see no reason to not start now! I have been afraid to sully the Hobonichi but maybe this weekend I will get the courage to dive in.

Thanksgiving and seeing my parents for the first time since 2019 (!) and my sister / niece for only the 2nd! We are headed to NC but back in time for Josh’s stretch of call to start (and to attend Thanksgiving down here). I will actually be flying back with the kids solo so that will be an adventure but hopefully not too bad.

Winter break. Even though there’s going to be a LOT of call, I’m hoping to make room for some positive aspects. Their school is offering a camp, which is promising since our nanny will be off.

Maybe moving sometime in early 2022 (basically around the block . . . and going back to home ownership)! AHHHHH! I will totally attempt to unleash Organize365 in a new space 🙂

I have nothing good to illustrate this post so I will share a pic of G looking old. (4 in less than 2 months!)

Such an adorable picture of G! Those curls are to die for.

And lots of fun things to look forward to!

I am dying over your weather – 90 sounds glorious today; it is cold and I was glum on the walk to school this morning thinking about cold weather and juggling snow suits and masks. Ugh. Fall definitely feels like it is giving way to winter here in Eastern Canada. But…the sooner we’re into it, the sooner we’re out of it. We got season’s passes to a local ski hill for this year – a first for our family – and I think that will help boost everyone’s spirits over the winter. Having a sport that we can only enjoy when it’s cold/snowy feels like a good compromise. I’m also considering buying snowshoes for the family, too, though I hate the thought of storing tons of extra winter gear. We’ll see.

A move sounds exciting and busy…I’m sure you’ll blog more about this, but I’m curious if the decision is mostly because of the rent increases; you seemed so relieved to be out of the home ownership game?

I dread the thought of ever moving again and honestly feel like once the kids are grown, the only other move I want to make is back into an apartment/condo where there is NO maintenance!

Yep 🙁 rent increase to the point where it was feeling unwise not to just buy a home similar to the one we are renting. Hoping that the layout will have ability for room sharing to stop too but i would have happily continued renting if not for the significant price hike 🙁

Woah, moving?? Did you find a place?

      Hopefully 🙂

It’s good to list out all the things you are looking forward to. And you have a great list! I’m looking forward to starting to use my W222 on Monday. I started to write in it yesterday which felt exciting. I was pleasantly surprised to see that my Pilot 0.38 gel ink pens do not bleed through! I was not excited about using a ballpoint pen, although I do like the Uni one I ordered. I’m also excited to celebrate Thanksgiving with my family. We haven’t celebrated a holiday with my family since November 2019! I hope we all stay healthy. The adults are all vaccinated but the young kids are, and 1 teen isn’t… But I’m trying to remain optimistic that my 3rd dose of Pfizer will protect me or at least make for a less bad experience if I do get sick? We are also planning our first trip since Feb of 2020! We are going to visit my sister in AZ in Feb of 2022, right around when my niece turns 1.

I highly recommend bright neon yellow shirts for all the kids; I flew solo with my 3 kiddos this past summer (6, 5, and 2) and it helped so much with maintaining kid situational awareness 🙂
