I am not feeling amazing, BUT the absolutely toxic malaise/fever feeling seems to have subsided. Yay?
My throat hurts. My voice is terrible, which renders podcasting problematic.
I can still smell. (For now.)
I am definitely not ready to exercise in any way shape or form.
I was trying to think of the last time I’ve felt this bad. I did feel terrible during COVID vaccines #2 and #3, but it was over in 48 hours. I was super sick away a conference once – that was pretty unpleasant. I got a nasty case of H1N1 during the 2009 wave. But the most memorable was probably this superflu, because it is WELL DOCUMENTED during the very first month I was blogging:
unidentified pediatric-acquired nastiness
Lack of capitalization aside, I have to say I enjoy my 2004 writing style. Also, this blog is about to turn 18 which is something.
Yesterday I watched:
The Way Down (interesting but way longer than necessary)
The Vow (good so far; I know the story well from listening to the CBC podcast Escaping NXIVM)
Apparently being sick = watching cult documentaries. If anyone has more recs along these lines, let me know!

Hope you feel better soon and have no lingering effects. Highly recommend “The Dropout” on Hulu – not a cult in the traditional sense, but it’s just so good.
I love the glimpse into 2004 Sarah! Those posts made me laugh – I am definitely not that funny when I am super sick. Fingers crossed that you continue to improve.
I also recommend The Dropout! And for something lighter, Younger, which is about a 40yo mom who passes as a 20-something to get a job in publishing.
Hope you feel better soon! That HR data is crazy. But wow, your resting HR is so low when not sick! Mine is low 50s but mid- to upper-40s is extra amazing!
Younger is an awesome show! Loved it and didn’t want it to end.
I hope you continue to feel better asap! I just finished “Keep Sweet: Pray and Obey” which is very much in line with your other watchings!
Hope you feel better soon!
I have to say – GI bugs have always been the most memorable for me. Once when I was a child and so sick that I just had to be sick all over my bed all night long (my poor parents…) and once this spring when – for the first time – it was coming out both ends at the same time. Shudder.
We just started watching the serpent of Essex on Apple TV- omg so good. Claire Danes is never in any thing bad though 🙂
Sorry for it all! I recommend “Under the banner of heaven” based on Jon Kaukauer’s book
