This past weekend was good! I feel . . . fairly rested, honestly. And I don’t feel like we did that much, although looking back there were plenty of accomplishments:
- Hosted 2 playdates (Saturday for A&C and Monday for A)
- IKEA trip to buy C a dresser. My IKEA love has no bounds.
- Cooked dinner x 2 (Sun – salmon ginger scallion noodles + Mon – vegetarian taco salad)
- 3 workouts (1 run, 2 strength)
- Booked DC hotel for spring break! Yay!
- Put photos up to July 2020 in an album for photobook purposes!
- Cleaned out A & G’s rooms
- Updated my 2022 reading list – fall TBR list, here I come . . .
- Wrote/posted show notes — I hope Monday’s episode doesn’t get missed due to the holiday weekend, because I’m kind of proud of how this one turned out!
So yeah! It was plenty even though it didn’t feel like we did anything big. Sometimes those kinds of weekends are nice, I have to say. It helps that we were both off. Every weekend when we are off and everyone is healthy is truly worth savoring.
Best of luck to those of you headed back to school! I feel like we have our routine mostly down and the activities have ramped up slowly which has helped. This week almost everything is in full swing — A just has a theater activity which begins in late September, and then we’re kind of at a steady state.
Off to RUN (tapering for my 5K) and then a full day of clinic. This is actually a super short week for us – we are headed to Brandi Carlile later this week (!!!).

Sounds like a great weekend! Shameless self-promotion, but I’m obnoxiously proud: I qualified for Boston this weekend!!! I ran 3 minutes under the cut-off so I’m crossing my fingers and toes that I actually get in. Registration is next week!
Congratulations, Chelsea!
Holy moly! Congrats, Chelsea! That is a HUGE accomplishment!!
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!! Im so excited for you and yes you should tell everyone everywhere!! You earned it!!!
Congratulations!!! What a huge accomplishment. I ran Boston for the first time this spring, and it’s incredible. Wishing you all the luck for registration!!!
We had a pretty full weekend but that is what we need at this stage of parenting. The more we have planned/the more we are out of the house, the better! My husband and I talked about that on our way home from the park on Monday. On Sunday we were gone from 9:30am – 7:30pm!
Have the best time at the Brandi concert! It’s on my bucket list to see her at Red Rocks some day. I just saw her in late July and the concert was amazing. They really added strings to their arrangements and those girls are AMAZING. Brandi is very good at giving credit to everyone in the band. She introduced the strings and the whole stadium was cheering like crazy for them. The sisters were taking videos and photos of the moment and Brandi commented on how they probably never thought they’d have a whole stadium cheering them on like that. So you’ve got an epic concert to look forward to!
Hi Sarah! Wondering if you or your readers have suggestions of vertical weekly planners (something like the Erin Condren or Plum Paper 3 box layout) that comes in a 3 or 6 m option? I really like that layout but get a little overwhelmed w/ 12 m planners!
I have one! Look at Ink and Volt. They have a vertical weekly with the three boxes as well as 3 month and 6 month options.
Only deal breaker for some people would be that the 3 month and 6 month are undated.
Amplify, though those also have dailies! And makselife I think has quarterly w a vertical option!
Ooh thank you guys! Totally good with undated!
If you are into audiobooks (even if you aren’t) I highly recommend the audio version of Brandi Carlile’s book. In between chapters she performs songs that she referenced in the chapter before, and it added a whole new layer to her music for me.
We also went to Ikea this weekend- I had forgotten what a fun place it is for kids. Also – I can scour the internet for something yet find the perfect solution at Ikea for half the price.
I think sometimes knocking things off the to do list on the weekend can help one go into the week feeling rested, particularly mentally.
I’m in the greater DC area so very excited to hear about your trip! Spring break should be a nice time to visit!
