BOOK RECS!

Thank you all so much for the book recs!! YES to immersive-yet-not-toooo-distressing. I am going to update my TBR and start transitioning to a fall reading list (even though it’s not actually fall). And – Hello Beautiful happens to be ready for me at the library today! Fortuitous timing.

Today

✅ 16 mile long run. This went well! It was a little cooler (77-79F) and less humid (79%) than usual and felt so much better than recent long runs, weather-wise.

✅ Grocery list

❏ Shopping extravaganza: Target + TJs (though TJs could also potentially wait until tomorrow . . . hmmmm . . .)

❏ Bring kids to piano lesson (G + A)

❏ Library (pick up my hold + replenish G’s books)

❏ 5:15 pm soccer game (Josh is taking charge of game #1 which is at 1 pm but we are all going to the evening game #2 . . of 4 this weekend)

❏ 15 min pantry declutter attempt

❏ Possibly a nap if I can fit it in (REALLY HOPING)

little snippet of this week’s PrepDish list (lately I just add to this page, check off what I already have, and bring to the store as my shopping list)

I hope the soccer series goes well, it sounds exhausting. Hopefully you get an early night curled up with a book.

I am trying to sort our meals now that I’ll be travelling less. I assigned each night a theme – new recipe, soup (chilli, dal), breakfast for dinner, pasta, Asia, home made pizza, and clean out the fridge. We will see how this works, my husband is veggie, I can’t eat dairy, and my kid is vaguely carnivorous although he’s gotten much better at eating what we are eating. Day 1 was clean out the fridge and I also managed to make pasta ala Norma as I had some sad eggplants to use, which will do us for lunches for a few days. I’ve been trying to “shop and chop” on Sundays as we eat loads more veggies for snacks when they are precut. Helps with sorting the recycling as well.

I hope you love Hello Beautiful as much as I did! It’s still my best read of 2023 although I listened to the first half of ‘finding me’ by Viola Davis on the drive to my parents and it is definitely going to be a 5 star read and might be neck and neck with hello beautiful!!

Nice work on the long run! We got some cooler weather after a stifling week so my run felt so good this morning!!

Way to go on your run! I love your idea for the prep dish/grocery list. Will you share a post on who does what and how to make dinner happen each week? It looks like a lot of work tbh to grocery shop & prep tbh, even for the fast plan. The meals sound delicious!

Hi! Usually I shop on Sunday, and then cook and do some of the week prep Sunday and we eat dinner #1 Sunday. Then our nanny makes dinners #2-5 M-Thurs since usually at least one kid has to eat early due to activities. I have experienced doing the whole thing for several weeks though (usually when she is on vac or sick or something) and it isn’t bad. You do need a ~2 hr block Sunday but then you are super set for the week. The meals are simple and definitely lean healthy but usually they are reasonably kid friendly or components are.
